Nate Diaz: I Want To Fight The Baddest Motherf—er Out There, Matt Brown At Welterweight

Notorious UFC lightweight Nate Diaz has made a habit of calling out numerous fighters in the past, although that was back when he was actually ranked. Now sidelined and inactive, it appears that the future is uncertain for the former 155-pound title challenger, as is the same for his older brother Nick.

Welterweight ‘Immortal’ Matt Brown recently called out Nick Diaz, saying it would be ‘legendary’ to fight the Pride FC and Strikeforce veteran. No response yet from Nick, but Nate stopped by at MMAFighting.com to give his sentiments:

“My brother is retired. So if this guy wants to fight a Diaz, he’s got to fight me. I want the Matt Brown fight,” Diaz said. “That’s what I’m looking for. I’m trying to fight the baddest motherf**kers out there. I’m not trying to fight some lame ass fighter that they’re trying to build off of me.

Could this be the fight that finally brings Diaz out of his cave? Having previously cited contract disputes as his reason for inactivity, could Nate be sucking it up and biting the bullet? If so, this will come as great news to his fans, although I doubt he will be getting Anderson Silva money any time soon.

Last seen in November 2013, at the TUF 18 Finals, knocking the dust off Gray Maynard, Diaz may have found the opponent he is looking for in ‘The Immortal’. That being said, Brown is naturally bigger than Diaz, and I expect that the streaking welterweight would use that advantage to the fullest.

It’s a given that this would be a great fight, but would Dana and co. even be interested in it at this point? Brown is unbeaten in seven, Diaz is unranked at 155, let alone 170 pounds. This fight is a lot more exciting than it is relevant, but if both parties are game it could be a thoroughly entertaining scrap. What say you?
