Nick Diaz is on the verge of losing his fight with GSP

It appears the Nick Diaz/GSP saga is far from over. The otf-eccentric Welterweight title challenger is set to face off with the longtime champ at UFC 158 in Montreal next month. But UFC President Dana White said last night that the opportunity may be falling through the cracks.

White had some very vocal beliefs about the situation, stating that Diaz has been on his last nerve as of late:

"I hope we don't come to that. I'm really close. I don't want to be. I don't want to do this. It sucks."
White's anger stems from the previously reported instance of a UFC film crew rolling around Diaz' hometown of Stockton, California in an ill-fated attempt to capture him on film. He continued:
"It's not funny. We're very cool and very lenient in a lot of ways. Look at this company. Look how we are. We let a lot of things fly. But that's just absolute bulls---."
White may have a point here, and while many fighters have engaged in questionable behavior over the years, he has been known to give second chances. The Rampage Jackson incident comes to mind. Regardless, Diaz is being his notoriously hard-to-deal-with self:
"We've treated Nate and Nick with respect. Anytime they come in and want to negotiate their contracts, we do the things, we're good to everybody. At least give us the respect to show up and not blow $50 grand on not showing up for interviews you're supposed to do.
"All the fans are like, 'Shut up, Dana. Let Nick fight.' You shut up, idiots. This is how it works. This is the job. This is what we do. Go to your f---ing job and tell your boss, 'I don't want to this or that.' That's not how it works. It's   part of the job. I've shown the Diaz brothers a ton of respect. They can show some respect back. I hope I don't even have to think about that. It's the last thing on earth I want to do."
So the subject has become quite touchy for the President, who appears sick of anyone willing to give Diaz a free pass on his behavior. However, he did grant Diaz another chance at the title after he lost his last bout and got suspended for failing the drug test.
Diaz, of course, sloughed off three press conferences in late 2011 and lost his first shot at GSP. In a courtesy to St-Pierre, the UFC granted Diaz a second chance. Will he waste this opportunity as well?

really when did he do it before? last time when he pulled diaz over a month before the fight and gave deserving condit the shot? in 3 weeks no1 deserving would be given the shot unless its hendricks and if hendricks was given the shot first GSP wouldnt take the fight because he is completely different than diaz and second it would be unfair to condit who just got his opponent changed a week ago. he pulls diaz he losses BIG money

You answered your own question. Plus i don't see GSP pulling a Jones and refussing to fight. He's to nice of a guy to wreck an entire card.

@Griffin you clearly missed the whole UFC137 situation.

Diaz was pulled from the fight so on short notice they made the GSP/Condit fight, which GSP accepted.
Then GSP got injured so that fight was delayed and Diaz/Penn was made main event. After that Diaz/GSP was planned but GSP was hurt so they replaced GSP with Condit to make Diaz/Condit.

If Dana did do that I'd have a lot more respect for him. I'm sick of these whiney children. You know how many fighters would love a cameo on a Primetime let alone being featured in one? Spoiled little brats- Ceasar salad included.

Nick Diaz is hiding from the cameras praying to be dropped from the fight again to fight an outta shape half retired guy again. If he fights GSP hell get embarr***ed on camera and he'll be the half retired guy. Nick Diaz has NOTHING to offer GSP

Ya I highly doubt Dana is gonna pull this fight since as of recently the companies become strictly about business and money which is good but now they just care about ppv buys and who people want to see fight, not who deserves to fight. Prime example Sonnen, Nick Diaz fighting for the belts.

This is true but I can see him dropping Nick easily. If you make Dana mad personally your going to regret it. I do find it funny that they finally released rankings and then don't follow them at all.

The media obligations and the filming are all about increasing the ppv buys. Hence all about buisness and all about money. He could easily get dropped and Hendriks see his ***le shot.

How is it a power trip? Nick Diaz is a Zuffa employe and he's not doing his ****ing job! At any other job he would've got fired! How is this situation any different? If Diaz can't be a company man and work for his coin as stipulated in his ****ing contract, he gotta go! Period....

Well, I hope Dana lets this one ride through...
GSP is very confident after seeing how Henderson dominated Nate.
That is the recipe to bet any of the Diaz brothers....quicknes on the feet, good wrestling, GNP. This is exactly how to beat any of the Diaz's. Notice how quickly after the Bendo/Nate fight that GSP called out Nick. GSP knows the recipe and is baking a birhday portion for Nicks a*&.....

All Nick has to do is what he signed a contract to do. Media obligations and all. Every other fighter doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

AGAIN.... BOTH Diaz brothers.. so NICK AND NATE.. we're scheduled for interviews! Its irrelevant if he's on the card or not.. It might've been for the primetime show of the card he's on. It would make sense for the camera team to shoot the footage with both brothers while they're down there in Stockton. Instead of going there on 2 seperate occasions. Fact is, interviews were scheduled and both he and his brother blew those off!!

Dana is a spoiled brat...he should be above all this and treat Nick douchbag as he is - just a boy - be smart Dana, swallow this for a bit, let GSP pick Diaz apart, make a ton os money in the process and after we fans get what we want you can just **** Nick hard as he deserves....so yes, this is just a power trip, not the smart logical move for the situation at hand.

I've been saying this for months...

If I was GSP's coach, I would have had him training and preparing for Hendricks, not Diaz.

As a GSP fan, I don't think Nick has a snowballs chance in hell of winning the fight. I give him zero chance. I don't even give him a puncher's chance, because he doesn't have the power. Subsequently, I don't / didn't think he needed to prepare for him. Rush is always in shape and will be able to take the fight anywhere he wishes to take it.

With that said and given Diaz's problematic personality, GSP would have been well advised (IMO) to have been preparing for Hendricks. If Nick gets scratched, the obvious thing to do is to move Hendricks over and give him the ***le shot he earned. That, should it happen, is going to be a whole other problem for The Champ. Where I'm not worried about Diaz, I would be truly concerned about Big Rig. Where I see Diaz having no chance of beating GSP, I believe Hendricks has everything it takes to defeat The Champ.

I really hope Diaz doesn't get bumped, because Big Rig is a guy I'd definitely want GSP to camp and prepare for. He'd be a tough fight for anyone to have him just dumped on you a few days or weeks, prior to having to fight him.

Well written ,i completely agree with everything you said!
Although i do believe that Hendricks has no more of a punchers chance against Gsp.
Gsp is better everywhere by a large margin except the ''one punch knockout'' department.
I like Hendricks but in this situation he is the definition of the quote ''he has a punchers chance''

    @ Cam

He's a scary guy. He's a serious challenge. Much more so than Nick, no disrespect intended, and one punch or not, all he needs is the once chance with the one tool and it's lights out for anyone in that division. Including GSP.

I'm going to be very interested to see how Condit deals with him. As much as I respect JH's power and wrestling, I'm going to go with the cagier, taller, more well-rounded Condit.

And KO's work both ways. :-)

Oh look Dana White is spazing out in the media again about one of his fighters, what a surprise. None of this business should be public knowledge and it should all be kept between the parties involved. Dana White calling fans idiots and saying that employees can't dictate to their employers their job duties. Well if you look at it from another perspective like how many bosses call out and disrespect their employees publically and try to humiliate them at all costs when they don't get what they want... Not very professional and that would not be tolerated in any business I have ever been involved in.

The fact is Dana White is a money hungry douche bag on a constant power trip and when he doesn't get what he wants he goes straight to the media and starts name calling. This is going to be part of the downfall of UFC. UFC will always have it's fanbase the diehard MMA fans but much like anything that becomes popular so fast in mainstream culture the hype will eventually die down and the PPV buys won't be what they once were and neither will the ticket sales. You heard it here first. For this company to maintain it's popularity and crediblity they need to get rid of Dana White or atleast keep him behind the scenes and away from the public eye much like Vince Mcmahon has done in wrestling entertainment.

Publically dissing fans the very people who turned Dana from a nothing into a something overnight.... UFC please rid your company of this cancer.
