Mirko Cro Cop: Alistair Overeem owes his excellence to something that's dirty and unpermitted

Gone but not forgotten, Mirko Cro Cop shared thoughts about Alistair Overeem's UFC 156 fiasco. Left high kick extraordinaire criticized Overeem for being too arrogant during the build up for the fight with Antonio Silva, which had a direct influence on his performance inside the Octagon on Saturday night. More than anything, Filipovic stated that Overeem showed signs of someone who just got 'off the juice', adding that The Reem owes his excellence to something "dirty and unpermitted".

This is not the first time Mirko Cro Cop offers his opinion on Alistair Overeem. The feud between the two dates back to Dream 8, when Overeem declared war on Cro Cop's testicles. The fight was ruled a no contest after Filipovic was not allowed to continue.

Here's what Cro Cop had to say about the Reem (via MMA.tv):

"I wasn't surprised by Silva's victory at all and I had believed he would win," said Cro Cop. "I don't want to come off as a smart-ass or say I knew it all along, so I'll explain why I'd believed so. First, Silva is a big tough guy with a huge heart who had demolished Fedor and he needs no better reference than that, and Alistair hugely underestimated him and belittled him with his arrogant statements, so this mobilized Silva in the best possible way. Second, Silva is a natural heavyweight, and Alistair - for the first time since way back in 2007, when he began to gain huge weight – fought without the drugs he had used constantly for years, including testosterone and all the other s--- that goes with it.

Watching the weigh-in, I saw that his muscles mass was nowhere near his usual, he had the weight, but he wasn't nearly as carved out and defined, since he couldn't take anything because he was watched by the Athletic Commission. This also reflects on the psyche of a man who's been using stuff to increase his strength, endurance, pain tolerance and aggressiveness for years, and now there was none of that. Alistair is an excellent fighter, but he still owes that excellence to something that's dirty and unpermitted, and, in the end, very dangerous to health.

I don’t think he was concerned by that, he wanted success at any cost. And the third thing is, Alistair had behaved so arrogantly that someone needed to put him back in his place. His belittling of Silva was repulsive, saying that after beating up Silva he'd go for the belt, and at the weigh-in and entering the arena he acted like he invented the fighting sport, and he's been behaving with so much arrogance lately that I'm glad Silva put him back in his place and taught him a lesson!

Congratulations Silva, from the heart!"

As much as I disgrace the cheaters in sports, I got to admit I was always kind of thinking Overeem was a very skilled and agressive fighter by nature. I loved watching that documentary about his dominating success in the fighting world.

Now that the curtain has fallen one can only realize that all these great accomplishments of his were a fruit of trickery and fraud.
I hope for his sake that when he comes out of his cave of shame, he will appear humbled and not make excuses.

This may be the case of the the pot calling the kettle black.

Crop Cop did fight in Pride after all, so we'll never know.

The connection to Big Foot is also pretty funny, as he has a failed test on his record too.

You do realize that Acromegaly which Big foot suffers brings testosterone levels so low that can cause impotence? so Big foot has to get TRT not because of his age or a deficiency cause for the abuse of steroids in the past but because of his condition.

He failed a test for Boldenone (an anabolic steroid having nothing to do with TRT) in 2008.

"According to Silva's manager, Alex Davis, the positive test was caused by Silva's use of Novedex, a testosterone-booster he takes to raise his low testosterone levels (a symptom of his acromegaly)." End of the quote.

“It turns out that he was using a legal, over-the-counter supplement called ‘Novedex’ to help boost his testosterone before his last fight against Justin Eilers [in July 2008],” says manager Alex Davis, a man who currently assists Luiz Cane, Thiago Silva and Thiago Tavares, among others. “But there is an ingredient in Novedex that metabolizes into the same chemical form as Boldenone (an illegal steroid).” Unwise to this tidbit of knowledge, Bigfoot had taken the supplement and was later bewildered to learn that he had been fined and suspended for one year by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) following a false positive on his urinalysis test. But once the culprit—Novedex—was discovered, that’s when the trouble began. “We investigated and found out that Novedex makes a positive for Boldenone,” says Davis. “So we gathered proof that Antonio had used the supplement, and had him do another urine test after he stopped using it, and the test immediately came back negative.”

I remember that fight well. He intentionally kicked CroCop in the balls 2 or 3 times. Crocop had to go to the hospital later because he was bleeding. Overreem said afterwards CroCop was a p*ssy and weak. I've always hated that SOB. Yes sir CroCop you are correct my friend!

I don't know if they were intentional ,but i give Cro Cop credit for fighting after the second knee. The third ended it. Those were some of the worst groin shots ive seen in mma and he took three of them.
I think Mirco nailed it though cause Overeem did look bigger and softer at the weigh ins than usual.
Now the question is will Overeem fight clean or find a better doctor?

Do you really remember or do you just think you remember? You do suffer from schizophrenia, after all. Perhaps you are mistaken and simply overheard a conversation (going on) in your head, between two (or more) other people.

    It's possible.

My view of this - The UFC and MMA in general, are peppered with people who either may currently be on "it" (PEDs'), to people who must have done them and a lot of them, at some stage of their careers or people who, for whatever medical reason, have been given waivers to take PEDs' or some form there of.

To continue to point at Overeem as if he's the only offender that The UFC or MMA has ever known, particularly (now) that this issue has been dealt with is a little stupid. To me, it sounds like a lot of sour grapes from a guy whose well past his sell-by-date.

I wish this sport, as all sports, was clean, but it is not and it is full of people who have made bad choices. If we were to go after all that have done or do PEDs', I doubt we'd have a sport. My suggestion to anyone who really wants to complain, is simply train harder and smarter and beat the guy, because you are the more technical and well-rounded fighter. PEDs' are no guarantee of success. Lately, it seems like they are the exact opposite, to-be-honest.

Cro Cop hikt it right on the spot. I still think Overeem would have beat Silva if he would of had some respect for him. Reem needs to sit down and decide what he wants to do from that day forward.

OooOPs Overeem !!! you are a dickhead, so much K-1 for that? i would expect from a experienced fighter as you ,to circle around, and raise hands up if you get exausted in the last round, you could have won that fight moron, zero strategy.
here some bane wise words:Ah, you fight like a younger man... nothing held back. Admirable... but mistaken

99 % of the fighters take peds at some point , even antonio silva , trt therapy for acromegaly was the perfect excuse at that time, there's no one naive at the California State Athletic Commission. but i wonder if cro cop was such a clean fighter along his career to criticize in that way??

Cro Cop needs to follow bigfoots lead and set up a grudge match with Reem...

After the Cain beating, it was great to see bigfoot return and earn the biggest and most spectacular underdog win likely in 2013...
