Chael Sonnen's nutrition coach, Mike Dolce, explained his client's "rough" weight cut for this weekend's fight with Anderson Silva. Sonnen revealed on several occasions that he has nearly 20lbs to cut, claiming that he will go through "great discomfort" ahead of tonight's weigh-in procedure. According to Dolce, everything goes as planned, and Chael Sonnen will be in perfect shape for the biggest fight of his MMA career.

The Dolce Diet looks like it involves steroids judging by Dolce's demure and physique.

I think you mean his demeanor, which is anything but demure after the way he just shamelessly plugged his system.

He actually looks pretty much the same as he did when he fought in the IFL years ago.

Cutting 20lbs of (mostly water) weight in 24 hrs? It's this kind of $hit that will kill someone in the UFC sooner or later. This kind of insane dehydration and then rapid re-hydration (using IVs etc) followed by repeated head trauma is a recipe for disaster.

I have to agree with you. I can't understand why they don't weigh in at ring side at the fight. It all works out the same in the end except then you see who is the best fighter not the best weight cutter.

Yeah thats a horrible way to cut weight especially when you could just not eat or drink, then all you have to do is just spit and sweat. I used to have to cut weight and believe me there are a lot worse ways. Did he need five minutes to say it? no.

that has nothing to do with the weight cut, his methods are among the best (if not the best). I've been reading his 'Living Lean' book, it's really good.
