Miesha Tate On Ronda Rousey: She’s Just A Body In The Way Of My Title

Miesha Tate naked 4Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate will finally settle their feud at UFC 168, after months of trash talking and drama queenisms in The Ultimate Fighter house. The two served stints as opposing coaches on the latest season of the hit reality show, and Rousey may have given a less than stellar account of herself during the show.

Heavy editing often tricks the untrained eye, but ‘Rowdy’ did give her fair share of flack to Tate. So now we look ahead to 168, where the two will rematch their 2012 Strikeforce clash. Tate was on hand to talk to MMA Fight Corner about her upcoming scrap with Rousey:

“I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to entering 2014 as a champion and it’s also exciting for me. I’ve just never felt so good about a training camp. I’ve never felt like it all came together at the right time, you know.”

“She’s just going to be a body. A body in the way of my title and that’s the way I want to keep it. I want to stay emotionally uninvested. I want to get the knockout because I want to prove I’m that much better than her. That’s just a personal goal, it doesn’t necessarily have to do with the fact that she is somewhat an arch nemesis. It’s just what I want to do.”

A knockout, or even a win, against Rousey is going to be a tough challenge for Tate. We know she is tough as nails, as we saw in her fight with Cat Zingano, but we also know that she can be finished by strikes or submissions; something that Rousey is yet to experience.

Tate will need to be motivated against Rousey, who has proved to be a bit of a game player during the pre fight hype. ‘Rowdy’ likes to get in opponents heads, then use her clinical grappling skills to overcome them on fight day. I imagine a certain degree of anger is harboured by Rousey’s opponents when they enter the cage, which has obviously proven costly for all seven of them.

I just wonder whether the mental aspect will come in to effect at all when they meet at 168, or whether Rousey is just the far superior fighter. Check out the interview with Tate below, and stay tuned to LowKick.com!
