Miesha Tate Still Puzzled By Rousey vs. Holm Booking

UFC women’s bantaweight contender Miesha Tate has been left out in the cold in the quest for her third fight with Ronda Rousey, as the surprise UFC 195 booking begins to sink in. Ex-boxing champ Holly Holm got the nod after two promotional wins, much to the shock of many, but none more so than Tate herself. Currently on a four fight win streak and ranked at the top of the division, ‘Cupcake’ was promised her shot at the belt after beating Jessica Eye in July.

Speaking with TMZ on set for her latest movie role in ‘Fight Valley’, as quoted by FOX Sports, Tate says that she is still puzzled as to why the UFC would choose ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ over her, and speculates that money may have been the motivating factor:

“I didn’t know about it until the rest of the world. Actually after because I was still sleeping and then I woke up and had like 30 texts on my phone saying ‘awww that sucks.'”

“We could speculate a million reasons why it’s not happening, but the reason that they’re telling us it’s not happening is because they think Holly and Ronda sells more,”

As is often the case, the UFC might have seen dollar signs in the UFC 195 main event booking. Following Rousey’s beef with Floyd Mayweather, the matchmakers probably put two and two together considering Holm’s decorated boxing past.

“I think I’ve proven that I’m the closest to being able to figure her out, out of anyone in the division,” Tate said. “I actually make Ronda fight and if people don’t like watching good fights then I don’t understand why anyone’s a fan of the UFC. When her and I fought, it was fire and fuel and it was exciting and the fans loved it. It was insane. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to see it.”

“I feel like if Ronda was always fighting me, people wouldn’t think she’s as unstoppable as they are buying into because she’s fighting these other girls — like Bethe (Correia), I just don’t think she’s that great, she’s not that good, she was overhyped and she got exposed,” Tate said candidly.

“I’m telling you I have made the necessary changes in my camp and I realized the mistakes and I know what I’m up against now. I know more of her tendencies, I know what she feels like, and I want it more than anybody else does and I want it more than I’ve ever wanted it.”

Perhaps one more win against her rumoured next opponent Amanda Nunes will be the ticket to a trilogy bout with ‘Rowdy’, or perhaps a shot at Holm if she wins (LOL), but will the former two-time Rousey opponent ‘Cupcake’ even last one round this time?
