Michael Bisping trashes Brian Stann, Greg Jackson

UK fighter Michael Bisping has always been lauded as much for his mouth as his fighting ability, both of which have become quite prominent in the world of MMA. Set to face Brian Stann at UFC 152, Bisping took to the outlet of ESPN.co.uk to speak up against his upcoming opponent and his famed trainer, Greg Jackson:

"From what I understand, Stann isn't training with Jackson anymore. But who the hell cares either way? Come on, guys. Just because Stann trained with some smug git from New Mexico who can quote the Ninja Turtles, doesn't mean he's got some mystical insight to beat me. Listen, Greg Jackson has a smug grin on his face when his gameplans go well, but when they go tits up he's not there going: "Well, blame me, folks. The fighter just followed my stupid ideas."

Bisping has never been one to mince words and he certainly has not here in trashing Greg Jackson, the coach who has underwent massive criticism for his instruction of Jon Jones to back out of a UFC 151 bout with Chael Sonnen. Bisping became more specific as the interview went on, maligning Stann's submission skills, or lack there of:

"Brian Stann isn't a fighter who can follow through with a sophisticated strategy. I mean this with all due respect for a guy who is clearly a powerful athlete, a determined guy and who hits like a truck but Stann is not a massively talented fighter. I know what he's going to do. He is going to throw a leg kick - like he always does - and try to take my head off with a right hand. And, hey, Stann can do it; I have a good chin but Stann can knock anyone in the division out with his power. But that's not going to happen. A stupid mistake aside, I mince Brian Stann's arse like burger meat nine times out of 10. I've not seen too much evolution in his game. He's the same guy, someone who will always be dangerous but isn't a top talent in the division and never will be.”

Classic Bisping for sure, who always has massive confidence in his skills and closed out with a powerful statement:

"I was kicking arse in the UFC when Stann was peeling potatoes, shining shoes and getting called a "maggot" by some red-faced sergeant in the Marines. This isn't warfare, this is MMA, and I'm better at it than Brian Stann will ever be. On September 22, Brian Stann is getting knocked out - fast. He won't last as long as a virgin on prom night."

Take away all the trash talk and self hype in there and Bisping wrong.

This is one of the locks for the night in my mind, Bisping winning and being pretty dominant.

As confident as I am in Mike taking the win I will never count Brian Stann out - the All-American can stop anyone on any night with his hands.

I see Bisping taking this one. He's just a little more experience and an overall more complete fighter than Stann. That said, the latter can easily knock out the Count, Hendo-style, given the right opportunity.

    @borealis19

    whatever the **** that means

how is Bisping a more complete fighter than Stann? Bisping only has his 1-2 , 2-3 combinations with weak punches . has no kicks, no Muay Thai skills , no wrestling for takedowns or even trips , no submissions skills at all.

Brian Stann has KO power and has more tools , has been learning kicks and knees to add to his combos. Stann will take this one Easy! by KO. save this comment so i can say to all of all Bisping blind fans, i told you. Bisping is highly overrated.

You really think Bisping has no muay thai or BJJ skills? No kicks and no submission game?

The guy is a two time pro british LHW kickboxing champion, has won a few tournaments and been training in jiujitsu since pre-school age.

I think he might know a few things, his striking is sharp and planned, definitely not overrated.

The part about Greg Jackson is actually bull.

I like Bsping but he either doesn't know what he is talking about or just trying to make Greg look bad.

I have seen Jackson multiple times, post-fight, taking the full responsibility for a fighter's loss. One of the most humble coaches and is always the first to take the blame.

Aww, c'mon, the ninja turtles line was hilarious. Greg says some really stupid shit sometimes (while acting like he's saying something really deep), like comparing his decision to corner Jones vs Evans with the choice folks in the civil war had to make regarding which side to fight for. If a guy is going to go out and say dumb shit like that, people have every right to rip on him.

I laughed so hard at this, brilliant trash talk. the virgin line was a work of genius.

Bisping is correct in everything he says for anyone who disregards it:

He's a far more technical striker, and has much more variety in his game. Stann is a power striker who does depend on drawing you into a stand and bang style where his natural knockout is a deciding factor.

He's has shown the ability to deal with high level wrestling shown in the 'controversial' Sonnen loss. Something that Brian Stann did not do.

The comments about him being a soldier are correct also. Just because you're a decorated marine doesn't mean your going to surpass a man who has fought legit competition and has never not once looked competitive.

Bisping is going to move, takedown stann and wear him out with ground and pound stann like he does with everyone.

    Exciting Match-Up though.

Brian Stann seems like a great guy. But just because he fought in this "war" that's been going on, doesn't make him a hero. If he saved some of his buddy's lives. Then that's heroic. But the military in this country has become a lot of human tools for politics. I'm not just referring to Bush or Obama. I'd rather have Bush any day. But the point is his hero status shouldn't just be considered a given. Unless we know the specific situations he encountered in combat. He may have done some heroic things. But not just every person that has seen combat is a hero.

@kickass- that's where you're wrong. not everyone that has a job in the military is a hero. And our freedom has not been at stake in this war. I haven't seen any proof that we killed Bin Laden so I wouldn't use that. I don't get why people act this way. When you meet a new person, they deserve a base line level of respect. And how they are as a person determines if they deserve more. Your job doesn't make you earn more respect. There are plenty of scumbags in the military, just like any other job. Like clergy men for example. The job doesn't make the man. And there is no field of work, where everyone is a great guy. That being said, hats off to Stann. He's a badass.

I have to admit, he's pretty good at trash talking but interesting that Bisping talks about Stann only having a slugger's chance. I wonder who he's trying to convince?

While the Count might have only been knocked out once, he's much less confident and aggressive against guy who have big power.

And implying a tough dude with big right hand isn't very bright? How did that work out last time?

LMAO, Dan Henderson would WRECK Brian Stann. And last I checked, I don't think I've ever seen Hendo fall over after throwing a wild punch, something I have seen from Stann. Assuming a normal strategy for both fighters, Brian Stann will be peppered with so many shots by the end of the first round that he'll cease to be a real threat in the stand up. If he doesn't put Bisping away early, it's not going to happen at all.

Man this guy needs to shut up. He'll never be a champion and his fights suck, except when he get KO. I guess he doesn't realize that Dana only keeps him around because he needs a few U.K. fighters to get going across the pond. His only main event was getting KO by Dan and thats just about all I can remember about him.

How do you know so specifically that Dana keeps him around for only one reason? Either you have inside information or it's just a silly comment, which is it?

If you are not a silly boy, why would you want to watch fights with him in it if you know they suck - seriously why?

If you cannot remember anything else about him, how can you comment with such certainty on the "truth of the matter", (that means the style you are using to write).

Understanding that all his fights suck, were you reading this blog so you could remember more things about him in future?

Seriously, what are you hoping to add to the conversation?

I'm concerned about you xdecember.... perhaps you need to give yourself a hug and remember that tomorrow is a new day.

Seriously if you think Michael is a really good fighter then there is something wrong with you. I cant remember any of his fight because none were worth remembering. I know his fights suck because he has been on the under cards for ever and I still can't remember his last fights. I'm just saying. He's not fancy, super fast, or strong, He doesn't possess KO power and I believe his take downs and grappling are a big weakness. It is what it is. Don't be ****ing delusional and believe his something he not. Thats all I'm saying and yes I believe he's keeping him around just for the U.K. crowd at this point. For **** sake Hardy lost what almost 4 or 5 times and didn't get cut.

I think Bisping does win 9 times out of 10, but by decision, not KO. He's clearly a more technical striker and should pick Stann apart...

but I'm really hoping for the 1 time out of 10 Stann KTFOs him.

Some good points from Bisping but I think Bisping will be playing to Stann's strengths in this fight so by no way a gimme. Bisping is of course the more rounded fighter but Stann has great hands and Bisping has been vulnerable to the overhand right many times even since Hendrson knocked his marbles into the twilight zone and if he doesn't address that Stann would very well knowck him out.

But of course I waffle too much, I believe Bisping will finish him in round 3 from strikes.
