Octagon veteran, Michael "The Count" Bisping, continued to make his case for a title shot, this time stating that he can continue Chael Sonnen's work by giving Anderson Silva a real challenge. Bisping also spoke about Hector Lombard as a "poison dwarf", claiming that Shango should fight at Flyweight. The Brit will face Brian Stann at UFC 151, with sights on solidifying his place in the mix for a shot at the UFC Middleweight title.

I say if Bisping beats Stann give him one more fight and then the title shot, unless he rolls through Stann but that is unlikely.

Like a lot of the other MWs, Bisping is here before Lombard's debut saying he isn't what the hype says he is. Looks like Bisping was right.

Lombard was robbed. Just because the win streak isn't there doesn't mean the hype is gone too.

The fight was basically a boring draw. So whether he got the close decision win or not isnt the point, he didnt put on a show which is what was needed for any chance at Silva.

Well his biggest thing to get behind was his exciting fight style and huge win streak, which were both lost in his debut.

He isn't exactly known for being a guy who fights nothing but top competition is he, more like the opposite.

    YEah.

Bisping is a smart guy and a good fighter, he just tends to talk a bit too much about other fighters.

Frank mir has the same problem. Im a big fan of Frank Mir though

    Bisping doesnt deserve shit...

He is coming off a loss...It doesnt matter if he was robbed as some people say or not...He left it up to the judges. I think he needs to fight Lombard.

I think Lombard is good but he is now in the Big leagues. I am glad Boetch beat him, even it was by decision. Lombard needs to learn a big lesson...UFC has the best talent and you cannot win fights by laying and waiting flatfooted as he basically did for the first two rounds. I turned the fight off after that....Leave it up to the judges, dont expect to win.....

it wasn't a devastating loss but wasn't an win in "beautiful fashion" either was it? Which was what a lot of people were expected due to his hype train.

I lol when people say it like this, like he gets KO'd by everyone he fights. Let's see, there was Henderson, then there was... ummm.... er....

Seriously, what would the MMA world be like if Hendo had decisioned Bisping instead?

I think Lombard should Get the Stann Bisping loser. either fight will be tough for Lombard, I think Bisping has sharp enough Boxing to avoid Lombards looping punches and land his own, he'd probably win a decision since I don't think he'll bully Bisping around just like Chael couldn't. Stann would have a punchers chance but I give Lombard that fight.

Weidman is ahead of bisping, and I believe Vitor would beat Bisping.

Still believe Vitor can beat anyone. Vitor's toughest challenge in the MW division other than Silva would be Weidman/Sonnen. Everyone else he would beat IMO

This seemed like stand up comedy. He seems pretty funny even though it looked scripted. Though he isn't too likeable I feel he will do better than most other contenders. I'd say if he beats Stann he should get the shot because he had a good streak broken in controversy by the #2 mW in the world and there's a shortage of contenders.

Bisping won't last 2 mins with Anderson, he's got the perfect style to run right into a very precise strike or two.

One thing MW isn't short of is contenders. Belcher, Weidman, Vitor and Boetsch are all right there deserving a shot.

Within a few of wins Bisping, Stann and Palhares could all be getting a shot as well.

Middleweight probably has the most or maybe on par with WW for the most top and deserving contenders.

I would say those and LW right now are stacked up top with contenders:

WW has Kampman, Condit, and Hendricks who could all be title contenders right now. Right behind them is Koscheck, Ellenberger, Diaz, Shields, Fitch, and MacDonald. Then there's Marquardt who's coming off a big KO over Woodley, and holding the SF strap.

LW has Maynard, Pettis, and Diaz who are all worthy of shots at the winner of Edgar-Henderson. Right behind them is Miller, Guida, and the Cerrone-Guillard winner. Obviously there is also Melendez who many still consider top 3.

Hopefully, MMA can stay injury free for the next year or so and we can see some top guys clear things up.

That's exatly why I wanna see it, and I'm a brisling fan. I don't see any middle weight beating Silva. His ability to finish fights is just so damn good, and his chin is understated. I'm at the point where I just wanna see Silva fight strikers and have exciting fights. I don't wanna see him fight a wrestler who will hold him down for a round two before he figures them out and finishes them.

he's going to run into the jynx of asking for silva before you finish the business at hand. stann can knock his head in if he gets him in the right position. munoz asked for silva and wasn't even close to beating weidman. in fact he got used and he wanted silva. lombard the same thing. respect your opponent or he will get your respect.

I want this fight solely cause Bisping might actually try to stand with him. And that'll make for another highlight KO on Anderson's resume. Then again Stann will most likely try to stand with him too so that would be fine. Basically let's put the wrestling on the back burner for a while here it had a big enough hand making ufc149 super boring.

Before anything he needs to finish Stann, not just a win, but a finish. If he gets past Stann, Weidman would be the logical number one contended eliminator. Although I think Weidman needs a couple of more wins before a title shot, yes he has been impressive, but I do not think he'll give Silva a challenge at the moment. This is what i see:

    1. Bisping vs Stann

    2. Weidman vs Alan Belcher

    3. #1 Winner(*) vs #2 Winner(*) for eliminator

    4. * vs Anderson

I believe Alan has a strong case for a title shot, and i can see Alan vs Weidman for the title shot before Bisping.

IMO Weidman vs Belfort would be better. If Weidman can't deal with Vitor's stand-up there's not much point of putting him in against Silva. Vitor has decent hips to sprawl on Weidman's takedowns also. IMO It would be a more realistic stepping stone to get the title shot if he can take Vitor out as opposed to Belcher.

That would be the fairest way but in the route you are taking probably up to a year and knocking off another great challenger in the process.

Michael Bisping couldn't beat Anderson Silva if they Blindfolded the champ who does this guy think he is now look ppl Bisping has lost to two fighters both beat by anderson silva cheal sonnen at UFC 117 and 148 And Dan "Hendo" Henderson at UFC 82. Where Hendo put Bisping to sleep way before his bed time. I'm just saying he deserves a title shot but he wont win by a long shot.

Bisping is the most under rated fighter in the UFC. I'm a Bisping supporter and I though Chael was going to ruin him but he won that fight on my score card. He has decent wrestling, good grappling, great cardio and tidy stand-up. Would I put money on him beating Anderson? Hell no. Could I see an upset - it is possible if not likely, don't count him out. Let's see what he does with Stann and then we will have a better idea. As long as he keeps his chin tucked he should do OK. That stand up was well funny too - he is a smart funny guy and he loves to rinse people - fair play.

It's "I couldn't care less". You see if you "could care less" your implying that you do care, even if it's just a little bit. Let me demonstrate; "I couldn't care less what you think". See, it's easy!

We British are quite self deprecating and in the north of England people tend to "take the p1ss", which is a bit like smack talk but it's all tongue in cheek and no one really means it. I think that some of Bisping's "antics" get blurred by the cultural differences and people across the pond take it all a little to heart. Not that I am laying the blame on anyone, Bisping should also consider he has an international audience and perhaps make a few adjustments to soften things.

No. I'm a big fan of British humor. Fawlty Towers is up there as far as comedy series goes. But Bisping rarely comes off as self deprecating, it has nothing to do with being a Brit, but everything to do with him being a prick.

btw faulty towers is from the 70`s not a great example from british humour i personally think its quite lame.

What you said mmagym and I take your point ASDF, I don't think he is self deprecating but his humour is an extension of that and is cultural in part. I think what I mean is he is a prick but maybe not always. Even I cringe some times and I am a right bell end.
