Medical Suspensions from UFC 148, Sonnen and Griffin top the list

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has confirmed with Lowkick.com that 11 fighters from UFC 148 have been suspended for medical reasons. Chael Sonnen and Forrest Griffin who each fought different bouts in the Co-main event, are at the top of the list. Sonnen lost his rematch to UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva by TKO, while Griffin defeated UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz in Ortiz's farewell bout.

The medical suspensions are as follows:

-Chael Sonnen is suspended until 08/07/12 with no contact until 07/29/12 due to nasal laceration.

-Forrest Griffin must have a CT scan or panarex of his jaw, if positive then he must be cleared by a doctor or no contest until 10/06/12; with a minimum suspension of no contest until 08/22/12 and no contact until 08/07/12.

-Cung Le must have an x-ray of his right knee and right foot, if positive then he must be cleared by a doctor or no contest until 10/06/12; additionally, he has a minimum suspension of no contest until 08/07/12 and no contact until 07/29/12 due to a left eye laceration.

-Patrick Cote is suspended until 08/07/12 with no contact until 07/29/12 due to a scalp laceration.

-Dong Hyun Kim is suspended until 08/22/12 with no contact until 08/07/12.

-Cody McKenzie is suspended until 08/22/12 with no contact until 08/07/12.

-Ivan Menjivar must have x-ray or an MRI of his left knee; if positive then he must be cleared by a doctor or no contest until 10/06/12.

-Fabricio Dos Santos Camoes is suspended until 08/07/12 with no contact until 07/29/12.

-Gleison Tibau is suspended until 08/07/12 with no contact until 07/29/12 due to a right eye laceration.

-Constantinos Philippou must have his left eye cleared by an ophthalmologist or no contest until 10/06/12; minimum suspension no contest until 08/07/12, no contact until 07/30/12

-Oliveira Ferreira is suspended until 08/07/12 with no contact until 07/29/12 due to a scalp laceration.
