Matt Mitrione Suspended No Longer; Will Face Brendan Schaub at UFC on Fox 8

It appears that Matt Mitrione’s suspension for violating the UFC Code of Conduct with his comments about transgender fighter Fallon Fox has been quite short-lived. The outspoken heavyweight has been signed on to fight fellow TUF alum Brendan Schaub at July’s UFC on Fox 8, adding to a growing roster of bouts.

Mitrione was of course put under fire not too long ago when he called Fox a “sociopathic freak,” prompting a backlash from the UFC resulting in ‘Meathead’s’ suspension. Apparently he’s done his time and will return to the Octagon this summer.

He was last seen dismantling Phil DeFries in a one-sided knockout performance at UFC Sweden. Prior to that, Mitrione was on the wrong end of a Roy Nelson KO at the TUF 16 Finale last December. His opponent Schaub had also been riding quite the cold streak before he rebounded with a play-it-safe decision win over Lavar Johnson at UFC 157 in February, most likely with his job on the line.

The bout joins the announcement of Miesha Tate vs. Liz Carmouche and Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga for the UFC Flyweight title. Seattle’s next hosting of a UFC event could have some fireworks this July, what are your thoughts on how the card is shaping up?

He's back because a lot of people agree with Mitrione and by having him suspended Dana is basically alienating all of those fans.

    ********retarded.

He's back because it was nothing more than a slap on the wrist in the first place, and a show to be made to the LGBT community who have been put off by mixed martial artists in the past.

I'm sure all of our handicapable members are put off by your comment. It wasn't even a slap on the wrist, making Mitrione miss a fight would have been a slap in the wrist. Dana completely backtracked because people like me like Mitrione and tend to agree with his comments. Don't get me wrong I love the gays, but there's no scientific validity behind "a woman trapped in man's body" or vise versa. Dana (MMA in general) does need to appeal to the liberal community though. It's a pretty red-blooded, Republican dominated sport.

That is true. My apologies to anybody I offended.

    ********stupid was meant.

Mitrione missing a fight and getting a fine (which is what he got) is a lot more than a slap on the wrist.

Did he actually miss a fight? Shows what I know. Dana can do whatever he whats for whyever he wants to do it. You'll still never see a transgender in the UFC. He'll talk as much talk as he can to get the minority (in this case LGBTSTGNC's), but he won't upset the majority by letting the T's fight.

One more thing! I know this is an MMA site and I'd hate to start a political discussion. My above comments are in no way critical of any political affiliation! I should be a politician. lol
