News that had been swirling earlier has apparently been confirmed by Brazilian site SporTV, as UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has officially become sponsored by US-based sports apparel giant Nike. The deal will make JDS a member of a very select group of which fellow UFC champions Anderson Silva and Jon Jones are a part of. It also shows the amount of belief Nike has in MMA and will mark a huge step towards the advancement of the sport. Brazil is an area where MMA is absolutely booming right now, and Nike appears to have that set as part of their overall strategy. Their quote regarding Junior dos Santos only reinforces that belief:

"The Junior Cigano is a top athlete and have him on the team Nike is an honor. The information we received from athletes are the vector of innovation at Nike. A top athlete is never satisfied. He always wants more: more wins, more titles, better products. This is the energy that moves the brand.” - Luís Alexandre, director of Sports Marketing, Nike Brazil

JDS has always been a fighter who has been very good to his fans. His popularity in Brazil is at an all-time high, and this should bode well for Nike in their plans to branch out. Set to face Cain Velasquez in a rematch for the Heavyweight title at the year-ending UFC 155, JDS has a fast-approaching opportunity to display his monumental new sponsorship deal. Will it be prior to another devastating knockout of Velasquez?

The one who can beat them all imo is the UFC HW current title holder....so we always know who that is....that should be the most feared man in combat sports.

Muscle worship. Something slightly gay about that isn't there. Biggest isn't always baddest. Just ask Brock.

JDS is extraordinarily strong, even for a HW that size.
