Josh Burkman returned to action last night, hoping to rebound from his fourth round WSOF 6 loss to (now) former champion Steve Carl. The October 2013 loss snapped a five fight win streak for ‘The Peoples Champion’, that included wins over UFC vets Gerald Harris, Aaron Simpson and Jon Fitch.

With Fitch next in line for the title shot at welterweight, Burkman needed to make a statement at last night’s WSOF 9 event, and boy, did he do that. Taking just over two minutes, Burkman put a sound beating on Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Tyler Stinson.

‘The Evolution’ was on a four fight win streak before last night, including three first round and one third round knockout. Burkman showed a big improvement in his game, beating Stinson at his own game of striking. Stinson is known for having big power in his hands, and Burkman has stepped it up a notch with the impressive win at WSOF 9.
