A huge fight may be coming to a division who doesn’t seem to get the respect it deserves, as MMASucka has reported that the UFC is targeting a bout between No. 2-ranked flyweight Joseph Benavidez and rising contender No. 5-ranked Henry “The Messenger” Cejudo for UFC 191 in September.

Benavidez, a staple from Team Alpha Male, is widely considered to be one of the best 125-pounders on the planet not named Demetrious Johnson, as he consistently dispatches every contender put in front of him, but just can’t seem to get the job done against the champion. He is actually 11-2 in the Octagon, with both losses coming to Johnson, and he has also won three-straight.

It’s usually very difficult to get a third crack at a champion after losing twice, but the UFC may be given no choice if Benavidez continues to demolish his competition.

Cejudo, on the other hand, has taken the flyweight division by storm. A former Olympic gold medalist, “The Messenger” has proved that he has more than just wrestling, and in the contender scarce 125-pound division, he is being billed as a possible test to “Mighty Mouse’s” throne.

Cejudo is 3-0 in the UFC and despite having weight problems early on, he has now found his home at flyweight where he has won two-straight one-sided decisions.

With No. 1-ranked John Dodson scheduled to meet Johnson next, a fight between Benavidez and Cejudo could definitely be seen as a title eliminator. The former title challenger will look to prove he’s ready for another crack at gold, while the former Olympian will look to prove that he’s the real deal against the division’s elite.

As of now, the UFC hasn’t confirmed this bout just yet, but it’s seems as if it’s all but a done deal. UFC 191 is scheduled for September 5, 2015 in Las Vegas, with the only bout scheduled as of now being a women’s strawweight clash between Paige VanZant and Alex Chambers.

“Mighty Mouse” actually expressed interest in fighting on this card which would make the timing of these bouts perfect. Who do you see coming out victorious in a scrap between Benavidez and Cejudo?
