UFC Light Heavyweight champion shared his pre-fight thoughts ahead of UFC 152 main event clash with Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort. Jon Jones declared he's more versatile than Belfort, but what the Brazilian lacks in versatility, he compensates in being a "proven winner". The fight between Jon Jones and Vitor Belfort is scheduled to take place on September 22, 2012 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Vitor is faster and he has better boxing.

Jones is bigger, stronger, has a longer reach, has better kicks, is far more unpredictable, has better much wrestling, and despite Vitor's black belt, has shown more submission skills in his career.

Vitor not only has to get inside Jones' reach, he has to get inside and land power shots immediately, or Jones will take him down. It's not impossible for Vitor to win this fight, it's just very difficult and unlikely. Of course Vitor is not as versatile as Jones.

I hope Vitor KOs Jones, but I would be shocked to see it happen. Jones isn't saying anything that can reasonably be viewed as untrue here.

To say he lacks versatility is wrong imo, however I would say he doesn't consistently display versatility in his fights. I personally don't think there's a LHW fighter out there who could stop Jones doing serious damage if he get's on top and he's so difficult to hit consistently on the feet.

I have to agree.. i dont think Vitor lacks versatility at all.. he often just does not have to utilize it because his boxing is just outstanding combined with great TDD... sure Jones has "shown" more ground game. That does not guarantee its "better" and i promise you it's not. Vitor is a LEGIT Gracie Black Belt. The only thing Jon got going for him on the ground is his long limbs and with that his ability to throw those elbows from crazy angles also the leverage he can generate with them but on the other hand it also makes him vulnerable for subs.. especially with someone that knows his shit and has great physical STRENGTH to grab AND HOLD on to his arm or leg. I see Vitor taking this.. and i doubt it will even go to the ground. I think Vitor will come in well prepared and will keep the fight standing. He has the right training partners too push him hard enough and get him ready.

You made some good point, but I think Jones will take it. I just don't see Vitor being able to close the distance, Jones will avoid exchanging boxing combos with Vitor in the pocket, that's where Vitor excels. I expect Jones to use a lot leg kick and clinches if Vitor get's anywhere near him.

he doesnt need to be versatile when all he has to do is touch you with his hands. in my opinion he showed how versatile he was in the fight against a much bigger Rumble johson. if he comes into the jones fight with the same mentality he has a good chance of winning.

i think jones is gonna eat a big punch from vitor, not just because of vitor's skill, but i think he'll want to taste vitor's power to see if he can take a barrage of punches from him as jones will want to close distance and do his spinny elbows and finish in style...if he does, i think it'd be a big mistake and vitor will break his nose.

i think jones will win this unless he underestimates vitor's speed and power...if vitor clocks bones, he might get f**ked...it's anyone's game in this fight...

Vitor has better boxing , but so did Rashad who imo is the better all around fighter than the two.Better wrestling , bigger and equally fast with his hands and he was still unable to do much against Jones.

Jones wins again , no surprises in this one

I like Vitor, but this fight will be an easy one for Jones. Jones via sub - round 3.

I hope Jones stands up with him and they leave wrestling out of this to give the fans a good match.

I came to absolutely despise Jon in last few months, but I think people are giving to much credit to Vitor.. I think he will get beaten worse then Machida...as much as I wish it would happen otherwise.

I would love to see vitor win this one, not a big jones fan, I used to be like most, but now he comes across as a bit of a ****, but am afraid vitor is gonna get dominated ala anderson silva.
