Jon Fitch: BJ Penn is a coward

American Kickboxing Academy product Jon Fitch shared his two cents about the ongoing saga about BJ Penn's return to the Octagon. According to Fitch, "The Prodigy" is too picky about his opponents, which would make him persona non grata at the American Kickboxing Academy:

"Here at AKA, we've got fighters who come out to fight, fighters who will face anyone and don't hide from any opponents. You've also got cowards out there like B.J. Penn who say they want to fight people, but then they run and hide. Yes. He's a coward. He wouldn't be welcomed here." - MMAMania.com

Penn was originally scheduled to face Rory MacDonald at UFC 153 in Toronto, Canada, but the Canadian was forced out of the card due to injury. Since then, many fighters have called out BJ Penn, who's still silent on the identity of his future opponent. One of the fighters to call out BJ Penn was Siyar Bahadurzada, but instead, Penn offered the Afghan heavy-hitter to train together:

As for Fitch, former UFC Welterweight title challenger will face the up-and-coming star Erick Silva. In his latest appearance inside the Octagon, Fitch was KO'd by Johny Hendricks.

I swear i was just about to type about how tired reading his quotes made me. The guy makes me tired just hearing his name i can completely and totally sympathize with anyone saying they don't want to fight him again.

WTF? I understand talking to hype up a fight (or to pick one) but this is getting ridiculous. BJ has fought guys way bigger than himself, including against Machida. Maybe Fitch should try fighting guys to whom he gives up 15-20 lbs before talking $hit about BJ. Say whatever the fvck you want about Penn but he is NOT a coward and Fitch just sounds petty and delusional. End of the day, BJ is a hall of famer while Fitch is a guy most of us will be happy to see the back of when he quits the sport.

Ridiculous thing to say imo. BJ Penn moved up to HW to fight Machida, how often do see guys his size take risks like that ? Gsp is reluctant to move up just one weight class and he owned Fitch. BJ has ALWAYS fought the best of the best.

Just fighter hype, and Fitch trying to get a rematch. That's all this is.

Hype is great when you're able to back it up with good performances. Will anyone really give a rat's ass about Fitch's fights just because he says something idiotic? People forget that talking trash only sells fights when you back it up with good performances; when your last two fights were a draw against a lightweight and a 10s KTFO you should probably just shut up and focus on beating your opponent and giving the fans a fight worth watching. A guy like Joe Lauzon pretty much never talks crap, yet I'll take his fights over Fitch's anytime, no matter how much nonsense Fitch talks or how much 'hype' he generates.

Oh, I agree (with most). I'm just stating what this is. I truly doubt he believes BJ Penn is a coward, and that he would never be allowed in a gym that he trained in before Fitch was fighting professionally.

"We've got fighters who come out to fight" lol! Please! If Jon Fitch was a super hero, he would be named "the human blanket". Everybody has a mouth, and only people who's actions don't speak for themselves use it

I love that BJ tried to bait him down to train with him so he can kick his ass legally. : p

Jon "The Lullaby" Fitch isn't even significant right now. Until he finishes some fights, he won't be in the WW title mix.
