JDS: I'm the Baddest Man on the Planet, and I'd fight Jones to prove it

"People like to imagine a lot of things. I think Jon Jones is an amazing fighter. He is really good, he is so confident and I like him a lot. He is very nice with me and I'm nice with him. But, I don't care about the other belts.
I got the heavyweight belt, you know. There is just one baddest man on the planet and I think I am this guy now. So, if he moves up to the heavyweight division, I will think about the fight. If the UFC put him in front of me to challenge me, were going to fight and I will give my best." - UFC Tonight, via MMAMania.com
It looks like more and more UFC Heavyweights are ready to welcome Jon Jones to the division. This time it's no other than the reigning UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, who admitted that he would be more than happy to test his skills against Jones.
Dos Santos labeled himself as "The Baddest Man on the Planet". Brazilian heavy-hitter is currently on a 9-fight win streak in the UFC, with one title defense (against Frank Mir). Despite his young age, Jon Jones is slightly ahead of dos Santos when it comes to statistics. Bones has 11 victories inside the Octagon, with four title defenses.
Jon Jones recently stated that he's definitely going up to Heavyweight, most likely towards the end of 2013. Alistair Overeem has already expressed his desire to welcome Jones to the division, while other top UFC Heavyweights have also entertained the idea of fighting one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in MMA today. At 6ft 4, Jones taller than Cain Velasquez and Frank Mir, while his legendary reach is as long as the one of a 7ft "Skyscraper" Stefan Struve.

One title defense is not enough to be the baddest man on the planet. He needs a few more title defenses before I start believing this hype. I felt the same way with Jones, but Jones actually proved it by clearing up his division, with the exception of hendo of course.
UFC HWW champ is always the baddest man on the planet.
There may be better fighters P4P but that's not what being the baddest man is, it's that one bad ass mutha who would win one vs. one unarmed against anyone alive
what KFC is saying is right
But will he gives us a double shot?
You obviously got a little carried away Kieth. But I cant agree more.
the Heavyweight Champion is always the best fighter, not exactly in terms of skills , but just of the FACT that we can beat anyone !
If he can beat all the other Heavyweights then the rest of the lighter Divisions are not a problem, JDS saying he would fight Jones to prove that makes no sense since all Top Heavyweights can beat all of the Light Heavyweights. So fighting Jones would be easier than fighting any Top Heavyweight.
Same goes to Jones on Silva , Machida , Shogun and Evans are more legit wins then the Champion of the lighter Division. and so on going down on the rest of the divisions.
No he wouldn't. I guarantee there is always someone in MW or LHW who would beat who ever the champ at HW is. Hell, when you take the rules away, there is probably a 170 lb special forces guy out there that could make Junior his sex slave.
He would destroy jones. I have been saying this for along time. Bones moving to heavyweight would be a bad awakening. The advantages of size and reach would drop or not be a factor. The elite in the weightclass will expose that.
shaping peoples opinions, a serious pet peeve of mine chopping up what JDS said to make a provakative headline
I remember Brock lesnar calling himself the baddest man on the planet.
This cliche is annoying as hell....
The baddest man on the planet right now is Barack Obama for sinking the US economy further.
@david
Couldn't agree more.
I would love to hear the persons rational who weaked you on this.
I sometimes get a feeling that Jones is in for a double penetration. Anderson silva from below the weight class and JDS from above the weight class.
Not trying to be funny, but Jones should remain where he is for as long as possible. Switchover to another wight class can potentially destroy his 'beloved Legacy'.
That title means nothing. It meant nothing when Brock Lesnar had it and it still means nothing now. Pointless hype is what it is, especially since he still has a lot to prove.
Undefeated in the UFC, only man to beat Cain who was suppose to be almost unbeatable, has smashed through every opponent, only guy to convincingly beat Carwin, proved himself a good coach on TUF and is easily one of the most exciting guys in the sports history.
Nothing to prove except if he can stay on top
There must of been something lost in translation hahahaha. Cain is going to destroy you JDS like he did Lesnar.
ripstic5021, Agreed. The same way Cain destroyed JDS the first time.
The most respectful shit talker ever. What a controversial asshole Jds is....
How frustrated are you?
Not at all.
There is no path to a UFC belt harder than the one JDS had to follow...to say he needs to prove himself is purely stupid.....i challenge anyone to point out a champ that had to face the kind of competition JDS did.
Is lowkick full of Brazilians or something? I gotta start doing something different too many morons here now.
the baddest man on the planet is some dude in the mountains of new zealand or nepal that nobody has heard of. point being...i like JDS, but there is always someone bigger and badder whether you have met them or not so dont trip on your ego and state that about yourself like Brock did...let others formulate an opinion about you, but never put yourself on a pedestal.
Didn't Brock used to say the same thing? He possibly would beat Jones right now the size difference is massive and if he landed clean he would probably knock Jones out but then again he might just get outclassed by Jones as Jones is by far the more versatile and skilled fighter. He has dominated far higher calibre fighters than JDS has. If JDS was really the baddest man on the planet he would annihilate the likes of Nelson. He is the current #1 HW on the planet but baddest?
Even were it true (which it isn't) he sounds like his success has gone to his head which is now firmly tucked up his own arse the same as many lowkickers judging by the comments here.
"Baddest Man on the Planet" actually predates Lesnar, although I think that's when it started getting popular.
As far as Jones going to heavyweight, I think it's still at least a year away, but all the fighters who say they'd love to fight Bones should be careful what the wish for.
Remember, Jones has two brothers who play defensive line in the NFL, and in case you don't know, there is no such thing as a small defensive lineman.
So before anybody starts imagining how things would go with JJ at heavy wt., imagine him packing on about 50 pounds of muscle first.
Xxxx xxxx
Well, at least he's saying that he'll fight Jones, which is a great deal more than Anderson is prepared to say, right now.
I would love to see JDS vs Jones but Silva Vs Jones more so. They are so similar in terms of athleticism and ability. New vs Old, I hope that happens soon. I also think JDS needs to fight three or four more top level fighters (and win) to warrant a top 3/4 PFP fighter or to call yourself the bad man. I also really wanna see a JDS vs Overeem before anything else happens (well after valesquez fight).
Before I read this article I was really hoping JDS would K Overeem TFO but now I want to see Overeem ram his size 14 horse foot down his throat.
Jones would get killed. JDS is too technical for him and can deal with his length.
I'm not so sure. If JDS connected clean he'd win for sure but if he could is another matter. jones is twice as skilled as JDS and has fought much better competition.
