Most are picking UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to get another dominant finish when she attempts to pick up a sixth straight title defense against Bethe Correia in the main event of tonight’s (Sat., August 1, 2015) UFC 190 pay-per-view (PPV) from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After all, ‘Rowdy’ has done nothing other than absolutely demolish each and every one of her previous five UFC opponents, and only Miesha Tate was able to even survive the first round against the destructive titleholder. She’s demolished her last three opponents – top-ranked fighters Sara McMann, Alexis Davis, and Cat Zingano – in a grand total of 96 seconds, winning her the ESPY Award for ‘Fighter of the Year’ while simultaneously earning her the title of the most dominant fighter in all of the UFC.

You certainly can’t argue with Rousey’s flawless results, as there’s no other fighter in the UFC that seems to run through top-level competition with such ease. But on the other hand, her version of top-level competition is a stark contrast to the bodies of work of other UFC champions like say, Jon Jones or Jose Aldo.

No, Rousey’s dominance can’t be denied, yet many, like UFC analyst Kenny Florian, believe that she’s just simply light years ahead of her nearest competitor. That’s not to take away from her accomplishments, but when you consider that Jones ran through a gamut of light heavyweight legends and continued to maintain an iron grip on the belt until he became his own worst enemy, or that Aldo has undoubtedly taken on and beaten the absolute best featherweights throughout his whole career despite his injuries, her dominance may become a bit less in perspective.

She may still be the most dominant fighter in the UFC. However, we’ll never truly know until she gets tested and comes out on top. It doesn’t appear like that is going to happen anytime soon. Jones had his test against Alexander Gustafsson and came out on top; Aldo was repeatedly blasted by Chad Mendes, yet found a way to win the scintillating UFC 179 headliner.

Rousey’s never had to do that. That could mean she’s simply so dominant that no one can hang with her, or it could mean that her competition just has such a huge gap to bridge. With that said, do you believe that ‘Rowdy’ is truly the most dominant fighter in the UFC right now?
