GSP: There is no doubt in my mind I will leave with the belt
Posted on October 22, 2012, 03:46 PM by Mike DrahotaIn a video interview recently posted by UFC.com, Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre gives his take on his upcoming bout with Interim titleholder Carlos Condit. GSP notes that he hopes Condit will attack his surgically repaired knee beause he is not scared to deal with the circumstances. On November 17th from Montreal, St. Pierre will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon since beating Jake Shields in April of 2011. He had the following comment on the upcoming title fight:
"I'm not afraid of Carlos Condit. I hope Condit focuses on targeting my knee. It's not a weak link anymore. There is nothing that I can't do now that I was able to do before. I will leave with the belt. There is no doubt in my mind."
GSP seems supremely confident heading into his matchup with Condit. Who will emerge with the unifed 170 lb. title on November 17th?

we'll see about that homie!! im a GSP fan... but CONDIT is a f*cking BEAST !! I think Condit is gonna take this... I think Condit will finish GSP!
GSP coming of a huge layoff a bad injury going into a fight without knowing his new limits for his knee against the NBK. Condit is a threat standing and can pull a sub off any time, Im taking Condit for the upset.
You're damn right, X. Carlos Condit will be the new UFC WW champ very soon. The guy is indeed a beast.
"there is no doubt in my mind i will leave wit the belt" lingo for SAFETY FIRST
Yawn, never heard that one before. Must really suck to hate ona guy whos so damn good, he makes the best look ordinary. As for Condit, sure he's a great fighter, but he barely beat Diaz, who hasn't beaten anyone in the top 10 in how many years?!? Besides Dailey ... BAHAHAHAH. Condit was lucky to get the TKO vs. Rory, not sure what thatref was smoking, 7 secs left, yeah fights over WTF? Condit hasnt fought anyone near the fighter GPS has, while GSP has fought harder strikers, more powerful strikers, better BJJ than Condit. Condit will be like everyone else when he gets inside the OCtagon .... WOW this guy's on a whole diff levle & the gameplan is out the window, time to survive. GSP will be a new & improved, like the old GSP, he will take more chances & guarantee he will TKO Condit in the 4th. This long layoff will be better for GSP, than the Serra loss, Nov 17th, he will prove it. Condit hasn't even submitted anyone in the top 15 or top 20 that I can see, yet many UNEDUCATED morons say he has the advantage on the ground ..... BAHAHAHAH, haters sure are funny. Can you imagine the records & finishes GSP would have if he fought half the bums Condit has ..... Hiromitsu Miura, Carlo Prater, Brock Larson, John Alessio, Kyle Jensen, Takuya Wada - All these guys are SO GOOD NONE of them fight in the UFC, but he submitted all but one of them, so he must be a BJJ WIZARD right?!? Rather than just looking at the finishes, why don't you actually look at the bums he beat b4 he go to the UFC. Not a single submission since he joined the UFC. GSP's BJJ is much better than Condit's, hands down. Condit is only a Brown Belt, GSP has been a BJJ Black belt for a while, Check out who GSP's Black belt is under, and check out Condit's ..... Pretty sure BJ Penn had the toughest guard to pass in all of MMA, how many times did GSP pass his guard, and how easily did he make it look?!?
I like Condit, & I have no problem when people say Condit will win or want him to win, it's your right. But at least know what the **** your talking about. People saying Condit has better BJJ b/c of his submissions, yeah b/c he submitted guys who noone heard of & many whom have NEVER even fought in the UFC, what an accomplishment. If he's so good (@ BJJ), why hasn't he submitted anyone in the UFC yet? B/C beating & submitting cans is one thing, doing it vs. the best is another.
This is actually a big factor in the fight, more than normal.
Coming off a huge injury, confidence is going to be crucial so hopefully he does come in with this mindset and isn't worried about exploding off that leg
I doubt he'll be worried about his knee, b/c he's been doing that in training for the last 3 months, they say the training is the hardest part about being a fighter (physically & mentally). It's like Ring Rust, I believe it exists, but to a certain degree. Why do some fighters look better being out for 12-16 months, than someone fresh & out for 4 months?!? Just depends on the fighter. Rashad Evans looked much better after being out for 14 months vs. Ortiz & that was his 1st fight after leaving Jackson's camp. Wasn't Anderson out for 11 or 12 months before his 2nd fight vs. Sonnen? If anyone can comeback just as good, if not better, it's GSP. He's a freak of nature & heals so much quicker than the avg person, why or how ... who knows? Though, the Surgeon who did his knee surgery was THE BEST in the world, the same Surgeon who did Tom Brady's knee, and look how incredible he's been since the injury. I honestly believe GSP will shock a lot of people with this fight, Condit especially. Losing to Serra the the 2nd best thing to happen to GSP - Being out for 18 months will be the best thing to happen to him, for his career. You never know what you have, until it's gone. Cliche? Absoluteyl, but Absolutely true.
If you think that's impressive, you should see the KFC Double Shot, that'll blow your mind...
must be the clothes!
Wow, GSP must have had one heck of an ortho to make a statement like that! ACL jobs aren't usually so amazing, but maybe his was... I hope he's the same GSP we saw before he got injured.
Well I'm sure the UFC get nothing but the best for their fighters, especially their Champs! FYI: The surgeon who did GSP's knee, was the same surgeon who did Tom Brady's knee. Brady stated that his knee feels even better than the "healthy" non repaired knee. The surgeon is actually the best in the world, he's the Chief surgeon for a couple of Baseball teams, as well as NBA & NHL teams. I think he's in L.A/California.
GSP does everything like a cyborg including his rehab, the dr's were saying he did everything perfectly add high level nutrition supplementation and his conditioning probably all gives him a boost to recovery as well. However the little known secret is Maple Syrup you just rub that shit on and it cures anything plus its tasty. GSP by unsurprising cyborg beatdown and maple syrup rub!
by maple syrup do you mean vasoline?
aww man the joke's getting old -_-
I thought it was funny David but the peeps just worship the GSP!
Not really, it's getting old, that was almost 4 yrs ago, get some new shit. Though, I understand why they keep using it, it's the only thing they can actually come up with, I'm sure that makes you haters even that more angry. BAHAHAHA!
BTW: Why not say Anderson is a cheater/greaser, the guy was cought 2 or 3 times purposely wipping Vaseline off his face & onto his body after it was applied to his face b4 he enters the Octagon, but that's okay b/c it's Anderson right?!? OUCH!
i hate gsp but come on. hes a gah damn savage
I'm a huge GSP fan and Canadian so I'm going to stick with my man and I agree with thealex BUT I wish he would get the hunger of a contender back. I'm afraid that of the two Georges will come in more cautious and Carlos will come in still stinging from his criticism from the Diaz fight and with his hunger to spoil the super fight and the hunger of a contender. I'm standing by GSP but I'm worried for the first time.
ps. If that is a recent picture above he looks scuffed up like he has been full contact sparring. That's great!
I doubt Condit gives a rats ass about what WWE fans think of his fight against Diaz. he was ourstanding and likely very proud of his performance. I know i would be if I could perform at that level.
I agree Michael, I feel GSP only has one whole in his game and that is the lack of hunger.
I guess it's natural, when you're inrecidbly dominant as a champ and winning with ease, to lose the hunger to go out there with a mindset your opponent is trying to stop you from getting your dream.
A fired up GSP is scary, hopefully he comes in like he did against BJ or Hughes and just wants to use his skills to stop rather than control.
He destroyed Diaz?! Immaculate performance.
GSP is gonna look like he's never been away.
We all hope so!
GSP any day. I just have a feeling that it's going to be a boring fight :(
how about F_U_C_K Y O U
Get a girlfriend please!
You are a very well educated individual thealex, congrats to your parents.
hold on wtf there was a spam message that said to buy some thing on some website. thats what i was talking shit to
To be fair to thealex grandslams post didn't deserve much else. You do have to wonder who these trolls are who see GSP's face then feel compelled to click on it (subconsciously interested and excited) but then proceed to slag off a p4p great.
azzkika, you've got a point and I absolutely have no right to call the fight boring before it happens. I like GSP but somehow I don't find his fights very exciting but that's just an opinion and I believe there is nothing wrong in expressing one.
You obviously sound very smart in expressing your judgements on my post and please by all means continue doing so. I will be happy to learn from you in the bargain.
There are few other WWs as good as GSP and Condit. Both elite fighters with no embellishment in such statement as there often is when people describe fighters as elite. Condit has continually improved and is a great challenge to a great champion. I am as excited about this fight as I was for Edgar-Penn, Jones-Machida. It isn't often you get fighters of this calibre facing each other. As fans we don't know how lucky we are for MMA to have progressed to such a point with fights like this happening.
We are also very lucky GSP's surgery worked as well is it appears to. Such an injury could easily have finished GSP's career in MMA which would have been sad, even if some people do find him boring. I personally think he exemplifies strategy like no other and his all round game is up there in p4p terms.
It's true Condit is a beast, probably the most hungry he's every been and not a guy you would ideally want to fight after a long lay off. Condit stands a better chance than any of GSP's past opponents probably going back to Matt Hughes. I love both of these fighters and I believe it could go either way. If GSP takes this I doubt it will be that easy.
He's dangerous that's for sure but I feel Alves may have had a better hope at the time, he was shrugging off the takedowns from guys like Kos with ease and had brutal Muay Thai.
Looking back now Condit has much more chance but just saying when Alves fought for the title he seemed 10x better than he is now.

Yup a true test for a great champion.
I didn't mean to post 3 times, ****in internet!
Someone pls wake me up after GSP wins de decision.
Honestly GSP knees could be 100% BUT the main factor is the ring rust or octagon rust...Training is all good and fine, BUT I believe replicating the actual fight can never be achieved in training and recently I have not remembered anyone coming of a long term injury to be successful in their return. I could be wrong in that stat though.
Big Nog comes to mind...
Anderson Silva had a year layoff before Sonnen 2.
Rashad Evans, he actually cameback much better, who happens to train with GSP from time to time.
If it wasnt for Carlos' lackluster performance against Diaz I would give him a bigger chance but I agree with GSP, I think he has this one in the bag.
Yeah, Condit played it safe at the brown belt level against Diaz for sure- *however* GSP knows how to play it safe at the black belt level and shut your game down so that he gets a decision. It's like all your strengths just go out the window and he just makes you look foolish, even if he doesn't finish you.
I can't believe what absurdity exists between some ears. This is a superfight akin to Edgar-Penn, Edgar-Aldo and some numb nutz are complaining and whining as per ****ing usual. Lowkick really does attract some turds.
The only real super fights are Jones vs Anderson or Anderson vs GSP, no fight with Edgar in is a superfight let alone Condit.....maybe JDS vs Overeem...but just maybe.....
Only Brazilians in your superfights. Nothing wrong in national pride. but you dont appreciate skill.
No, that's a bit limited a view-point.
I noticed that but think in this case my natural bias did not come into play...there are 3 living legends in their prime right now : Jones, GSP and AS....to me a supper fight needs a legend and they need to be in their prime....Also I said "almost superfight" for JDS vs Overeem because the HWs are historicaly the most revered fighters....JDS is the current champ and Overeem strikeforce and K1 Champ (and a roided up monster).....but imo not at the same level of any combination of the 3 I mentioned before....Jones vs GSP would be a superfight...but that has zero chance of happening so I did not mention.
Yeah, for Jones vs. GSP to happen, GSP would have to train (and "supplement") with Overeem and Jones would have to train with David Blaine in Ethiopia and not eat for a couple months to get down to the 185 lb. catch weight.
GSP, all day man. He's the champ, he's back.
GSP ALL DAY BITCHES. besides we all know rory has helped push gsp to even greater heights. hopefully some of that killer instinct has rubbed off on him
GSP is unreal. He concentrates on his training and getting better everyday. I'm sure he followed his doctors orders and has made his leg better that it was before he got hurt. He just has that mentality about him that when he says he's going to do something he does it no matter what. GSP more accurate punches, better take downs, quicker, better wrestler, better ground game..the only way Carlos is going to win is if he lands one hell of a blow to GSP and he's to quick for that.
I haven't been excited for a fight since Anderson vs Chael 2....now that feeling is back :] I'm really excited to see GSP fight. I still remember how he utilized the jab to perfection vs Koscheck...ahh man. Great fight overall.
