Gruesome Toe Injury Forces Brandon Thatch Out Of UFC Fight Night 49 Bout Against Jordan Mein
It looks like rising UFC welterweight Brandon Thatch’s path to the top will unfortunately have to wait, as “Rukus” has been forced to withdraw from his UFC Fight Night 49 bout against Jordan Mein after suffering a gruesome broken toe in training.
He posted some photos of the injury along with a message on Twitter this afternoon:
I’m bummed to say I have to pull out of my fight against Jordan Mein. I compound fractured my toe yesterday pic.twitter.com/6jhh05L8Yp

After steamrolling Justin Edwards and Paulo Thiago in his first two UFC bouts during 2013, the Denver-based Thatch took some time off to heal from some nagging injuries.
Thatch was set to return at the August 23 card from Tulsa, Oklahoma, filling in for the oft-injured Thiago Alves. No timetable has been issued for Thatch’s recovery, but obviously the situation appears quite serious based on the photos.
As of right now, no word has come on a replacement opponent for Mein.
