Stefan Struve continued his impressive run inside the Octagon with a knockout victory over Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC on Fuel TV 5 in Nottingham, England.

Struve and Miocic went toe-to-toe inside the Octagon, but it was the Dutchman who managed to set the pace. Struve controlled Stipe Miocic with jabs and high-kicks, as the American-Croatian fighter tried to pave his way to victory with body shots. It seemed as Miocic was lacking "the finishing touch" to put Stefan Struve away, which eventually backfired with a 2nd Round KO defeat.

The referee Herb Dean stopped the action at 3:50 minutes into Round 2, after Stipe Miocic was out on his feet, courtesy of Stefan Struve's deadly onslaught. Miocic showed a lot of heart, but was simply unable to withstand the pressure after losing the striking exchange to Struve.

This was Stefan Struve's 9th victory in the UFC, and Miocic's first defeat.

Struve is now 25-5 in his MMA career, with sights solidifying his place as one of the potential contenders for the UFC Heavyweight title. The Skyscraper has now definitely moved up in the ladder.

I would say Browne, Nelson and Werdum too, and probably Nogueira.

Think Carwin would beat him too.

I might be saying this because I was rooting for Miocic, but clipping him while he was trying to get up after a slip doesn't seem like a fair KO to me..

I agree a great finish by Struve but did no one else notice just before Miocic slipped he was accidentally poked in the eye?

Not saying it would have stopped the TKO but I thoguht it was pretty blatant after Struve's hand touched his face he backed off and started squinting.

Either way Struve is a solid top 10 in my books after another great performance and finish.

i don't agree, he was tagging Miocic and kept the pressure on him which caused the slip and opened him up to what would be the finish.

Fron that list, I would pick Rothwell, Schaub, Bigfoot Silva, Velasquez, Browne, Carwin, Dos Santos, Kongo, Mir, Mitrione, Nelson, Nogueira, and Overeem to beat Struve.

    That's 12 guys, so I guess he's not in my top 10.

I don't see schaub, kongo, rothwell, mitrione, bigfoot and nogueira beating Struve, we'll see!

Naah, the only heavyweights I'd pick to beat him atm are JDS, Cain, Alistair, Werdum, Mir, Barnett and DC (once he comes to the UFC). He's a much better fighter than the guy who got ko'd by Nelson 2 years ago.

I don't think Struve has had 30 fights "in the octogon"(25-5). Maybe in his entire career. There is a big difference.

At the weigh-ins they said that it was Struve's 12th appearance in the octagon.

If you go by his recent streak as opposed to overall career ranking, I think he is maybe 5th or 6th.

Struve striking is getting better all the time bad and his submissions are very slick. If he learns how to combine his jab and and better head movement, he'll be hard for anyone to stop.

I see Struve staying at the top of the heavyweights for a long time !!!!!

Maybe not top 5, but top 10 for sure imo!

He would get seriously destroyed quick by any of the real Top 5 HWs:

    JDS

    Cain

    Overeem

    Mir

    Cormier

Hunt would also beat Struve. You'd have to match him against Mitrione, Rothwell or Bigfoot to really see where he fits in the Top 10...

Or Big Nog, Cheick Kongo, etc... Hard to see that Struve is Top 10 in all certainty, IMO.

Hunt would be destroyed by Struve. He's the same guy that got tooled by Sean McCorkle a year and a half ago.

Struve would be the rightful favorite against anybody not in the top 5 (that would contain Werdum at #4, not Mir), Big Nog, Mir, or Barnett.

I feel bad for Miocic he got knocked right after slipping on one of the stupid mat advertisements. I heard guys say many times how slippery those get. Great fight either way though, good back and forth action.

He actually just slipped on the canvas... none the less that would suck to be the reason you got knocked out.... its fair to say he was headed that way anyway

Reem & Velasquez appear to be the only real threats in the division right now for jnr.

Carwin had his chance, Mir had his, Nelson's too slow to be a threat, and stephen struve is still going through puberty.

Ive made more money betting on Struve than any other fighter. He has been an underdog in many fights that i knew he'd win handily.

It's funny how no one had Travis Browne on their list of people that could beat Struve, even though he knocked him out with a superman punch from hell!
