fitch: "if bj doesn't have the cardio...

"I'm extremely hard to finish and I have a huge gas tank and historically that's a big problem for B.J. Penn. If he doesn't have the cardio to keep up with my pace, there's no way he's going to last. If I went out there and tried to match BJ's timing, or match BJ's speed, it would never happen. And a lot of guys fall into that trap. It's more about setting your pace and dictating the action, dictating what's going on in the fight. That way you're not reacting to things, you're making the faster guy react to you. If you're good enough you can set traps, make them react the wrong way."

Set to face BJ Penn at UFC 127, number 2 ranked welterweight Jon Fitch tells Sports Illustrated where he will have the advantage come Feb 27 when the two face off in Australia. As I pole and probe amongst industry insiders, fighters and experts in regards to this match-up the consensus is clear, BJ needs cardio to beat Fitch. The question here is, not whether or not BJ will be prepared for this fight or not, the question is really, who is going to be the better fighter come fight night. Speculation aside, there is only one way to find out...

I hop Fitch wins too, it will piss off Dana as a bonus. That way Fitch will get his much deserved shot at GSP again.

I dont see Bj finishing Fitch if a guy like Thiago Alves could not KO him Bj wont either unless its maybe a submission but Fitch is too big.

I would actually liked to see Fitch vs Shields but i guess it wont happen

but i sure hope Fitch vs GSP 2

There is a BIG difference. BJ's Jiu-Jitsu and stand up is way superior than Fitch's. He is a fighter I would watch over Fitch any given day.

If BJ wants to win, he's really going to need to finish in the first two rounds. The longer the fight goes, the more it swings in Fitch's favor.

JTalbain, hit the nail on its head. If Penn doesn't deal some major damage to Fitch early on. Fitch cardio will with stand the lasting rounds. And pull thru with a win.

i'm nervous if bj comes out like he did in hughes/penn 3.

fitch does have a chin though.

    otherwise, this'll play out like hughes/penn 2.

all up to how aggressive bj is and whether or not he can stop the takedown.

I think if Hughes / Penn had gone longer Penn would have won anyway. I like it when the best BJ shows up....but finishing Hughes that fast...Penn was lucky

what tha hell are you talking about - it's a 3-rounder !?! BJ won't have any problems with his cardio in a 3 round fight. i predict BJ by submission, but i hope fitch wins.

Again, I want BJ to win but I just don't see it happening. I think BJ is going to win the first round and get beat up for the second and third.
