Ed Soares explains why Anderson Silva is fighting Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153

Anderson Silva's manager, Ed Soares, looked back at the decision-making process behind the upcoming bout between Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar. This will be the third time Anderson Silva moves up to 205, after knocking out Forrest Griffin and James Irvin in his previous performances at Light Heavyweight. This time Silva is called-up to save UFC 153 fight card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after Jose Aldo and Quinton Jackson were forced to withdraw from their bouts due to injury.

Soares explained that Stephan Bonnar was the best option available for Anderson Silva, after not-so-many UFC fighters were willing to step up to the occasion. Stephan Bonnar is currently on a three-fight win streak in the UFC, which definitely adds to the marketability of his encounter with "The Spider" in Brazil.

Silva's Blackhouse teammate, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, will participate in the co-main event action of the night, facing Dave "Pee-Wee" Herman (21-4). Both fighters will be looking to get back on winning ways inside the Octagon.

been awhile since we heard from vaginal soares, guess he figures since chael is out of the picture it's ok to come back and talk a bit, since he won't be publicly humiliated by chael for opening his mouth. can we schedule another fight with chael, as a deterrent for him from speaking. don't set a date, just announce the potential fight and it might be enough for him to disappear for awhile longer

Knowing Ed Soares. Anderson Silva said none of this and Soares is just pulling stuff out of his ass.

Really looking forward to this fight though.

I think its about time a fellow lowkicker slaps Ed Soares on the ass and asks him to cook a steak.

    This fight makes no sense.....

Anderson will be using Bonnar's head like a punching bag...The only difference to this fight and Forrests fight is that Bonnar won't run out of the cage crying like a retard without meds

It will be interesting to test A.S 's punching power(yet again) - which for a relatively skinny guy he has monstrous amounts of.

He finished Forrest with a jab or anchor punch if you want to call it that - put the sandman to sleep with a short punch - was the first guy to finish Leben

    - Now Bonnar's face that seems to stand up well to punches will be tested.

It's like a brick breaking competition but it isn't bricks - it's people faces.

Damn A.S - Can you break Rampages face? That's a top tier face.

He said 225 not 235. And that was saying he was huge, as in not his normal weight. Anderson really does take time off unlike some other fighters like GSP that always stay in shape. I believe Shogun could be a 185er as he usually looks a bit soft. But other guys like Bonnar, Forrest, Rampage walk at over 250 sometimes. The most GSP has weighed was just over 200 but he was still in shape. Anderson in shape is around 195-205 walk around and then he cuts to 185 or less with no issue. He has been at 168 when he was younger and had no issues there either. I would agree with you that Shogun could be in a smaller category but I feel he is not mentaly strong enough to discipline himself to get there properly.

he said over 225 fighters like Shogun 6.1 walks 205 fights 205 means he fights his own sise Anderson walks over 225 fights 185 it means he fights can after can for me any fighter loosing weight to fight small guys is a chicken. That wuy if you wach the weigh ins most fighters loose tons of weight to fight in smaller devision and look like sceletons. In one of Reeem videos Anderson meats with Overeem and they look nearly the same sise

Sometimes fighters are scared to cut weight as they fight better at their walk around weight and so won't risk stamina to go down and mess with lighter divisions. Everyone has a different way of maximising their potential in their own mind. When anderson fights at 205 he looks flabby like BJ does at 170. GSP looks ripped wether he is 200 or 170. Anderson gets up in weight and looks fat unlike GSP or Jones. I would like to see what would happen if Anderson put some serious muscle on like GSP has. So everyone in the UFC and virtually all fight orgs exept for maybe a hand full of fighters are chickens to you?

There is No way to look at this fight and think this is doing a service of "putting on a show" to the fans. Bonner is a joke and some say he is coming out of retirement for this. Either way everyone is convinced that Anderson doesnt have too many fights left. I will not be suprized if ticket sales are low. I dont even care about this fight...I mean really!! People want to see a competition....where in the stars did they come up with Bonner.... This fight make just as much sense as Shamrock fighting JDS... Soares is a p(*&y and he always objects to the fights who make sense...

Thing is no other 205ers stepped up to fight AS and Bonner was the only one willing. The 205 division needs to grow some balls as all of them should be jumping at the chance to dethrone the longest reigning king of the UFC. It;s okay to put on a ''show'' like this since it is classified as just that. Far different than having Jones fight Chael for a title. That would be a ''freakshow''. Anderson said he would fight anyone bar Lyoto and Jones at 205, look how many showed up for the opportunity.

I never said fat, i said soft. So you agree he's skinny? That means just because he is taller than a lot of the guys in his division does not mean he is bigger. Right?
