  1. 1. Yes: I agree with Dana White and his reasons.
  2. 2. No: Based on his record Bonnar didn't earn it.

If it wasn't for Bonnar and Griffin, the UFC would have ended up **** up as it was bankrupt during the filming of TUF Season 1.

at end of career wasnt great but if not for that fight UFC still would of made it but no where near if the fight didnt happen,....UFC and MMA fighters owe thanks for the heart and sportsmanship the respect they showed each other and to fight like they did is what made ppl fall in love that night fighter even tho pay should be better now,... those two made it possible to make a decent living doing this if anyone else fought Griffin would of not turned out like it is today so YES!!!! he deserves it

sure the fight really put the ufc on the map, but one good fight does not make you a hall of famer, plus considering he tested positive for peds after his last fight. It was a HOF fight for both fighters but neither of them had a hall of fame career.

he had more than one good fight but.... that one fight changed the out look on MMA for 100's of thousands of ppl ... changed the sport is what helped make it a mainstream sport so yeah... one fight does make it a hall of fame fight if it changed
how the world seen MMA wasnt just the fight but how the two treated each other for those who seen UFC as the old UFC (barbaric) seen it as two respectful fighter

Im sure it was more of a personal relationship with Dan whether it was warranted or not, especially after Forrest went in. Bonnar's done behind the scenes work as far as I know. But, it is what it is. I guess.

Shamrock is just as deserving if not more, but he's out once again due to personal relationship. In short, it depends how DANA sees it.

Here's a question, should the UFC HOF only be for UFC fighters or should it at least tip its cap to the MMA, which had come before?

    Example: Fedor.

Why not stick him in there and maybe some other and in their own little wing, if need be, but to leave some of these guys out of the party is a little sad.

I understand that it's only supposed to be about the UFC, but the reality is, that it's (probably) going to be the only and universally accepted (by the fans) MMA HOF that will ever be, so it on that basis they should and it wouldn't kill them in doing so.

True Kevin....I agree Brian as well, they should have a section in the UFC HOF called Pride HOFamers. They do have that right since they purchased Pride and it would help PR if the posted it in the news.

no it shouldn't unless its an mma hall of fame.
Why the hell would you put someone in the UFC hall of fame that has never competed in the UFC?!!

Yup, Shamrock should have been inducted with Gracie. Both styles helped shape UFC into a sport of athletic ability rather then bar room brawler.

His fight with Griffin saved the UFC... so f*ck his record. He went to war with a lot of bad *** guys and gave them a FIGHT! Nobody but Anderson Silva walked through Bonnar and put him away... I can't remember a boring fight with Bonnar. He's only been knocked out ONCE and all his other losses were DC's and 2 TKO CUTS... I say he earned it.

Plus, he's only 1 of 3 guys out of 13 fighters, who was able to go the distance with Jones. That by itself is an accomplishment by itself, particularly when we consider who Jones has finished.

For the record, I voted yes.

I know I might be in the minority, but the Griffin/Bonnar fight has to be the most overrated fight in UFC history.

I like Bonnar, but he should not be in the UFC HOF.

UDG, a significant portion of the fan base seem to feel that way. That said, I do see the importance of the Griffin / Bonnar fight and when White states, as emphatically as he did, how important the bout was to the promotion, then I think we simply must accept that @ face value.

He was in some pretty grueling fights and is one tough SOB and if the boss sees it, then he sees it and I'm fine with it, but again, I can see how some purists might view it otherwise.

I like Bonner. He i definitely someone to kick it with and share laughs.. But, what did he do to warrant a UFC HOF spot? UTF fight of the night> What did he win? Seriously,,, If UFC is going to be inducting fighters left and right without becoming champions then something is wrong with this picture...

DeeJay, we'll know it's really off the rails if Dana inducts Lee "Lightning" Murray. :-)

Do we all agree that without the Bonnar and Griffin fight the UFC could have gone belly up? If so then How can you NOT include Bonnar in the HOF if he was responsible for helping the UFC stay in business long enough to HAVE a HOF?

He should get an asterisk by his name. What kind of example are they setting by putting a guy in there who got caught cheating in his very last fight? Can't wait for Chael to get inducted as well.

NO WAY - It enforces the UFC HOF is meaningless and does not matter anyway. Fighters should get HOF recognition based on their IN CAGE performances and little else. The argument that Griffin and Bonner saved MMA with their technique-less brawl that was overrated to begin with shows that many fans are really ignorant when it comes to fighting. Also, MMA was growing prior to that and even though that fight brought on a few more fans and interest from MEDIA , in the big picture it had little to do with the momentum that MMA had in the first place.

As long as dirt bags continue to run these MMA orgs the problems will not go away.
