Dana White says Brock Lesnar "done" fighting

"(Brock Lesnar) is done. He called me a couple of days ago (and) he's never coming back."

That's what UFC President Dana White said when speaking to the Dave & Mahoney Morning Show in Las Vegas. Ever since Lesnar lost to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 last December and returned to the WWE the day after Wrestlemania, fans have held out hope that the former UFC heavyweight champion would resume his fighting career in the near future. Unfortunately, White is here to squash your dreams despite rumors running rampant that Lesnar had been contemplating a return to the cage. The reason the former Death Clutch fighter has deaded the idea isn't because he doesn't like the sport. Instead, it has more to do with the wear and tear it has taken on his body.

"He said his body," White continued. "He can wrestle but he can't fight. He was contemplating coming back."

But as we all know, you can never say never once you've had a taste of the Octagon. Maybe Lesnar will eventually change his mind. But as of right now, it's sports entertainment over mixed martial arts.

He is a quitter, when things dont go his way he quits, quit the wwe, quit the nfl, and quit the ufc once he had some adversity, no martial arts in his heart. He said himself he treats it as a buisness and trains from like 9-5. Other fighters with the passion you have to kick out of the gym, and are even found their after hours.

    @David.

    Sounds like you're saying that,

The division one wrestling champion is a quitter.

The man who faced serious adversity when fighting Randy, Frank.. and won is a quitter.

The man who took the best of Carwins shots for nearly five minutes is a quitter.

The man who came back from a life threatening illness to fight the K1 Champion, with comparitively no stand up experience is a quitter...

Have you ever been hit in the liver? By the K1 World Champion?

Seriously David, for you to hold this opinion you must be a professional fighter or athlete with an amazing record.

What am I missing here? Perhaps you have a point, please explain.

He has quit many things once it hasnt gone his way I gave examples, he is not the only fighter to overcome major injuries slashes diseases imo he just dosnt have the heart of a fighter, that people who make 1/10 of what he did posses.

    @Mr Saucier,

Sounds like you're saying that the real issue you have with Brock is that he earns a lot more money with less heart - that maybe true.

However, when we use the structure of your argument, those fighters who earn much less may not have the heart of a business man, so would that infer that they have more quit and less heart than Brock in another area?

I don't know how many fights you've had and the level you have fought at, but from my own experience; I have sparred with two high ranking European fighters... when you're getting hit from all angles and getting set up to throw certain shots and receiving devestating counters and there is nothing you can do about it, you go into "cover up" mode.

If there is nothing you can do about it, you're going to get KTFO. Frank Mir said it best when he called Brock "a one trick pony"... if he was allowed to use his wrestling then he could win, however the worlds best strikers had a game plan which prevented that... doesn't mean he has no heart, simply he was outclassed.

Big Brock took some nasty beatings in his last outings.

At least he didn't run away from tough opponents. You have to respect the dude for that.

Let's not be too harsh here. This guy was the UFC heavy weight Champion. And he was a force to recon with. Not that I like him but I think we should give this guy his due.

I should correct myself, JDS was in the UFC at that time but for some mysterious reason never got a title shot despite clearly being the best even at that time.

Randy was the second ranked HW in the world. Gabriel Gonzaga was still in the top ten. Frank Mir, Nogueira, and Werdum were also in the UFC at the time (and were top ten).

If you say you're going to correct yourself you might as well do it.

I think Randy could have pulled out a decision in a rematch (and he was a SMALL HW) and I could see JDS, Werdum and Big Nog finishing Brock. He might have been champ but was fast tracked to a title shot, got some lucky breaks and started getting beat down as soon as he started facing legit top HWs. Even the Carwin win was a total fluke.

But all what you just said is pure speculation (and not exactly valid speculation based on realistic events). Big Nog doesn't take a shot well at all anymore so as soon as the fight went to the ground he probably would've gotten pounded out. Werdum and JDS would be tough match ups, but JDS is the best HW in the world currently and Werdum wouldn't have been a favorite at all back then. Hell even sepculation Randy would have won a rematch is an insane reach. He was a smaller, less skilled wrestler, that had already begun to deteriorate as he couldn't take shots well anymore (Brock dropped him twice on the way to finishing him).

He was fast tracked to a title shot, and won it. Then defended it twice (once after overcoming a disease Emmanuel Steward just died from).

I would have liked to see Brock with an improved stand up. He gave his heart out in fights...him vs Carwin just proved how much he can really take. Diverticulitis is serious business and I wish Brock all the better.

Everybody who shits on him conveniently forgets that fact. He fought the most in shape Frank Mir I've ever seen compete, and he destroyed him.

After the diverticulitis his explosiveness was gone, and it appeared his heart to compete went with it.

He dropped KO'd Nog, Cro Cop and dropped Kongo.

Nog was smashing Mir in the stand up and he's been in trouble standing against several fighters who aren't great stand up artists. He's always been quite easy to hit on the feet and if you watch his fights back you will see this is true. He can land some good shots standing, he isn't without skill but it is his defense which makes it so bad. Against Carwin he stood motionless when any stand up fighter with real skills would have started weaving to avoid the shots. Mir can be very lumberous in that respect.

I said I wouldn't call him a can either, he was once one of the top 3 HW's on the planet though this was at a weak time in the HW division and his ground game is phenomenal but for all round game I do think him overrated. Any good stand up fighter with TD defense will own him and make him look average at best. Any fighter makes a mistake against him on the ground and he'll slap a sub on them faster than a Kursk on a crab.

Finally this farce is over, for those of us that followed MMA and not UFC back in those days knew that the UFC heavyweight division was a joke. I mean lets be serious they had a LHW as champion and Randy wasn't even a top 5 maybe not even a top 10 LHW.

But most people here only watched the UFC and don't really understand for how long the UFC was actually the B team in MMA.

Randy wasn't a top 5 HW? Really, you were watcing MMA at the time Gonzaga crushed Crocop (the #2 HW in the world) then lost to Randy? The same time period when PRIDE was on its last legs and their best fighters were jumping ship like it was the Titanic?

Seems to me you are far off on what time period you are thinking of. Might want to actually fact check your argument too, considering the second and the third best HWs from PRIDE got destroyed by guys like Mir and Gonzaga.

Then again you can just keep throwing up bullshit, because as I said above, I'm having fun.

I bet some of the commentators here slagging off Brock are the same ones slagging me when I was saying he was overrated and not worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Fedor while others were saying he would go on to be the greatest ever.

Well I'm not gonna slag the guy off now he's done. He came into MMA at a late age, put it on the line, even won the belt, entertained us all, helped elevate MMA in the public eye (not sure it's all a good thing judging on WWE fan IQ though) came back from a serious illness to have another crack and all in all acquitted himself better than I expected, though I know some think him a joke and a disappointment, for someone who jumped in at the deep end he did OK.

Not a great fan of Brock but best of luck to him now he's back in WWE. Takes balls to get it on and I am certain half the purile commentators on here have never done any sort of combat sport other than duelling keyboard strokes. If they had then they'd at least have the respect to acknowledge the guy came and tried and done some good for MMA.
