"Here’s the thing about the UFC Hall of Fame in all honesty, you know, the UFC Hall of Fame this is – these are guys that we have been inducting that have done a lot for the sport since we’ve have taken over, you know what I mean? Here’s a guy, you know, Frank Shamrock, Frank Shamrock hasn’t done anything for the new UFC. And when I say the new UFC I mean the regulated, since it’s been regulated, since it’s been back on pay-per-view, mainstream television, all the things that have been done over the last 12 years, the guys who have been inducted have helped us get to where we are. Frank Shamrock isn’t one of those guys." - fightcove.com (via MMA.tv)

UFC President Dana White responded to Frank Shamrock's interview on Spike TV, where the first UFC Light Heavyweight champion spoke about not being included in UFC Hall of Fame. According to White, "Frank Shamrock hasn’t done anything for the new UFC", therefore he has no place in the Hall of Fame.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz will be inducted into UFC Hall of Fame this weekend. Ortiz has defended his title 5 times (current record-holder in the UFC Light Heavyweight division), before losing to Randy Couture at UFC 44. The Huntington Beach Bad Boy will face Forrest Griffin in the co-main event of UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II fight card.

Current UFC Hall of Fame: Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Chuck Liddell, Charles "Mask" Lewis, Matt Hughes, Royce Gracie, Randy Couture, Mark Coleman, Tito Ortiz.

They should re-name it the Zuffa hall of fame and remove Royce Gracie, Dan Severn etc if it's only about people who helped out Dana and the Fertittas.

Compared to Tito, Iceman and Randy Couture he wasn't in the UFC for nearly as long. But he was the first light-heavy weight champ and he beat everyone's butt in his UFC run.

Bullshit. Severn and Coleman didn't do shit for the "new" UFC either.

Frank deserves to be in the HOF. Just like those 2.

Ken Shamrock is a Legend in the sport, thats for sure! But i have to agree with Dana in this one. With only 5 fights in the UFC he shouldnt be in the Hall of Fame. Even though he won all of them.

Well he and Royce Gracie were the first people to be inducted on the same night.

So he is already mentioned, considering he is the first person to be inducted.

What has Tito done? Yea he's a HoF'er but Dana said NEW UFC. Tito has won 1 fight in 6 years. He's obviously is getting in based on his past glories, not anything NEW.

I think Shamrock makes a good point. How can u deny the 1st LHW champion!!\

By the way, Tito n Frank had classic match ups that shaped the ufc's future back in the day.

Dana is dead wrong on this!!

The "new" UFC started way before Tito had his losing streak. He was the biggest draw the UFC had til around UFC 50. Still is one of the biggest draws to this date. There is no plural form when talking about Frank vs Tito, as they fought one time.

The only thing you have said that is relevant, is Frank Shamrock should be in the HOF.

    What has Tito done?

He has the record for the most UFC fights (26), and the most defenses of the UFC LHW title (5). There are a several UFC hall of Famers Frank compares favorably to, but Tito isn't one of them - at least not in terms of his UFC career. Frank's rather brief UFC career was over in 1999, while Tito's has continued to date.

However, Frank is just as deserving of the HOF as Severn, Coleman, and arguably Ken Shamrock....If you want to make a case for him, compare him to one of those guys.

Frank Shamrock doesn't belong, but it has nothing to do with the "new" UFC. That's a bunch of crap. Most of the guys in the Hall of Fame had nothing to do with the new UFC. Severn, Coleman, Gracie, Shamrock.....give me a break. They are all old school huge successes and new school ultimate failures. They were all great in their time but past their prime in the "new" UFC.

Frank Shamrock simply is not a legend of the sport. He's not with the upper echelon like the other fighters, plain and simple. He lacks the longevity and success level that the others possess.

That's insane. He's a pioneer of cross training, and when he retired the first time was universally recognized as the PFP best fighter in the sport. He defended his title more than any of the names you mentioned did in any promotion.

There would be no UFC without an old UFC...and I don't think there's a fighter who deserves half the credit Royce Gracie deserves for making the "old" UFC popular.

This is personal from Dana White. I think sometimes he needs to swallow his pride and just let things go. Frank Shamrock should be in the UFC HOF, personal problems or not. End of story.

Honestly, the HOF should not be Dana's decision. It should be decided by voting like in other sports - preferably by the fighters themselves as opposed to by the media.

Totally agree... Its personal BS like this that pisses me off about Dana. He lets his personal vendettas dictate who thrives & dies in the UFC. Hes becoming more and more corrupt everyday.

The bad part is that he doesnt care. He'll blatantly f-bomb one of his employees on radio, tv, or internet. It doesn't matter. As his belly has gotten bigger - so has his head.

If I were the Fratittas(spell check) I'd be atleast sniffing around for a replacement. Maybe promote matchmaker Silva. Dana can only take the UFC so far - and lately hes doing more harm than good so maybe its time to pass the torch.

Once the fighters tire of his bullshit, organize, and pull a mutiny - his fat head will finally roll. Then he can wonder why he isnt in the HOF...

Frank Shamrock is one of the all-time greats - he deserves a spot in the HOF. This isnt a personality contest.

To be excluded from the Hall of Fame is a major blow especially in you are operating a gym.

Titles and accolades all help establish fighters reputations and respect when they retire. Its very marketable for media, advertising etc

It should be the "UFC Hall of Fame" not "UFC Fighters Dana Likes".

Dana is such an immature little Doctor Evil.

For once, it would be cool to see Dana rise above his childish vendettas.

Life's too short for shit like that.

BTW: Dana is doing the talking--but where is Lorenzo Fertita in all of this?

He's the real boss of the UFC, and he is just as responsible for this decision.
