Dan Henderson Knocks Out Hector Lombard, Hints At Retirement
In his 17th appearance under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) banner, Dan Henderson (32-14) met Hector Lombard (34-6-1, 2 NC) in a middleweight scrap at UFC 199. The two went toe-to-toe at The Forum in Inglewood, CA.
“Hendo” elbowed his way to victory.
Henderson ducked under the right hand of Lombard in the opening frame. “Hendo” landed two leg kicks as Lombard continued to stalk him. “Lightening” was rocked with a punch, but he answered back with a left hook that eventually sent Henderson on his back. Lombard went for an Americana, but settled for side control. “Hendo” got back up and Lombard pressured him with strikes, wobbling his opponent. The fight was close to being stopped, but Henderson somehow survived. “Hendo” fought back before being taken down. He held on for the remainder of the round.
The second round was underway and Henderson went back to the leg kicks. “Hendo” missed a right hand. Henderson landed a high kick and then dropped “Lightening” with a back elbow. He followed up with two more elbows on the ground and referee Herb Dean waved the fight off.
After the fight, Henderson told fans that he was happy to have his wife and kids attend the fight. He then went on to say that his bout against Lombard may have been his last.
