Cris Cyborg Says ‘Paper Champ’ Ronda Rousey Is On Her List

The ongoing beef between women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino reaches a new level each week; this time around the former Strikeforce boss Justino is firing back at comments that ‘Rowdy’ made earlier in the week about CJ being an ‘it’. The comments raised a few eyebrows, and even got a 5K reward put on Rousey for the first fighter to knock her out.

Despite the backlash about her comments, UFC president Dana White said that ‘Rowdy’ would not face any action in relation to the promotion’s code of conduct. In fact, White went on to jive ‘Cyborg’ himself, saying that she was a drag version of Wanderlei Silva. Funnily enough, Justino sees the humour in the comments, check out the scoop from MMAFighting.com:

“I thought the comparison was funny, I’m a big fan of Wanderlei Silva, he’s a big international idol. “I’m not surprised (she wasn’t punished) because she’s UFC’s paper champion,” she said. “They obviously would never punish her, even because her opponents are handpicked.”

Although the funny side to the comments is obvious, what is also apparent is that Cyborg vs. Rousey really needs to happen, and it has been spoke about enough. If Justino is clean, and can make the weight, then what is the hold up? CJ continued:

“I always admired Dana White as a great businessman that always believed in MMA and helped our sport to grow around the world. And I’m sure that, with the power he has, he would never go against his paper champion. Everything she says motivates me to get inside the Octagon against her,” Cyborg said. “I don’t keep sadness, I keep names.”

Rather reserved in her responses, could ‘Cyborg’ be taking the high road as part of her ongoing application to join the promotion? Tito Ortiz did Justino no favors while he managed her, as far as comms with Dana White are concerned anyway. It’s clear that the beef between Ortiz and the baldfather has led to Justino being singled out, but her failed drug test in 2012 didn’t help either.

The truth is that there are a lot of people that believe ‘Cyborg’ would crush Rousey, and she is a very legitimate contender. Aside from building up a weekly based beef, keeping her on the outside of the UFC only makes the promotion look unprofessional. I expect Justino will keep crushing fools outside of the Zuffa umbrella, so our questions should well be answered soon.
