Countdown To UFC 191: Andrei Arlovski vs. Frank Mir

hqdefault18

Resurgent heavyweights collide at UFC 191, as ex-champions Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir look to continue on a very successful 2015. The two veterans will fill the co-main event slot on September 5th, with ‘The Pitbull’ coming in on a five fight win streak, and Mir unbeaten in two. Arlovski’s most impressive recent wins include finishes over Travis Browne and Antonio Silva, and Mir holds two straight stoppages over ‘Bigfoot’ and Todd Duffee.

Both have experienced the ultimate highs and deep lows of the MMA world, having seen championship glory in the past and subsequent brutal losing skids following that. Now, with seemingly rejuvenated chins and skill sets, their paths finally collide after many years of fighting under the same banner.

The grappling ‘Matador’ Frank Mir has vastly improved stand up and ever-dangerous submission techniques, ‘The Pitbull’ has looked a new man since training out of Greg Jackson‘s MMA, as has Mir. Many similarities between them, but there’ll be a big difference after UFC 191; one of them will have to deal with a win streak getting snapped, making this a very pivotal fight in the later stages of their careers.
