Chris Weidman Says It Not’s Fair That Vitor Belfort Looks Like The Hulk

Chris Weidman moved out of Anderson Silva’s shadow at UFC 168 with his second win over the MMA great, successfully defending his title and setting up a scrap against Vitor Belfort in the process. ‘The Phenom’ is on a path of destruction right now, dating back to January ’13 where he head kicked Michael Bisping in to oblivion.

Equally brutal knockout wins over Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson helped make Belfort the number one contender by a mile. One question that remains unanswered is that of Belfort’s ability to fight in Nevada. UFC President Dana White can make almost anything happen, but the TRT sh*t storm surrounding Belfort has grown so much that the NSAC has banished him from their sacred land.

Weidman gave his opinion on Belfort’s rage juice/TRT issues when he spoke with USA Today:

“He’s fought in Brazil now for the last two years, and obviously he looks like the Hulk now. He’s on TRT and he’s been caught cheating before for testosterone and I don’t know what else. … For a guy who’s 36 years old to have a lot higher testosterone than me at 29 years old, and I’ve never taken anything, is really not fair. So I’m happy that I’ll be fighting in Vegas, and I hope they’ll do due diligence in testing him to make sure he’s not cheating.”

Belfort’s TRT and super human appearance have been the topic of many heated discussions, and the reality is that they will continue to be for his entire career. I dread to think how the subject would explode if he is able to KO Weidman and become the champ.

“I’m not a big TRT guy – I don’t think TRT belongs in our sport,” he said. “I don’t like it. I don’t have the highest testosterone in the world, and I wouldn’t take it. I feel just fine where I’m at. Some people would probably tell me to take testosterone, but I wouldn’t do it.”

“I think he’s the right guy. It’s whoever the UFC thinks is the contender. He’s had three knockouts in a row, so I think he’s the right guy,”

Perhaps if Belfort is defeated by Weidman the TRT debate may calm down a bit, that being said it does lead to big complications. The situation involving Antonio Silva’s failed drugs test is allegedly due to a botched TRT dose; something that would never happen if the treatment were illegal.

I think the treatment is ridiculous, and for many reasons. The main one being it is not an exact science and we don’t know about the long terms effects of the treatment are; especially if fighters are injecting too much of it.
