Chael Sonnen to Anderson Silva: You can have the teeth, but the victory is mine
Posted on June 27, 2012, 09:13 AM by Anton GurevichNumber one contender for the UFC Middleweight title, Chael Sonnen, has finally responded to comments made by Anderson Silva during last Monday's intense UFC 148 media call. Silva promised Mixed Martial Arts fans around that he will punish Chael Sonnen for every disrespectful word that came out of his mouth during last two years. However, it looks like Chael Sonnen is not intimidated by Anderson Silva's ill will.
Speaking via UFC Tonight, Sonnen once again declared he will leave the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with UFC Middleweight title around his waist, adding that he already went through every single one of the injuries mentioned by "The Spider":
"Well it was nice to see the real Anderson Silva come through. Ya know, the guy's a dirtbag, like I've told you for years. He made a lot of statements like, he's gonna break my teeth, he's gonna break my jaw and beak my skull. Ya know, I've fought 49 men. It's not as if I've never been to the orthodontist before, or my jaw reset or my scalp stapled shut in the ER. There's a couple things he didn't say he was gonna do, starting with beating me, starting with breaking my spirit and leaving with the victory, cuz he's not. Go ahead. Take the the teeth, take the jaw, take the staples in the head, whatever other crap he's gonna do. We're in the a fistfight in a steel cage on a Saturday night, anyway. I kind of expect it. I think he was one off from saying, 'I'm gonna give you a knuckle sandwich.' I'm kinda sitting there thinking, 'Well, duh. We're in the middle of a cage fight, dummy!'" (MMAMania.com)
Chael Sonnen is 27-11-1 in his MMA campaign, competing since 1997.
UFC President Dana White stated on the call that he expects UFC 100 pay-per-view numbers from Silva vs. Sonnen II. White declared on numerous occasions that he considers UFC 148 to be one of the biggest sporting events this year, and without any doubt the biggest fight in UFC history.

More like find a way to lose when lose seems impossible....
If Sonnen loses in a humiliating fashion, I dont know what he will say to the press, after all the statements he did for the last 2 years :S
I wanna see a competitive fight and Anderson victorious
Im sure it'd be similar to when he lost to Silva the first time.
Just pay respects to Silva's fighting skills
Chael will need the takedown to win against a healthy Silva, but if Silva comes in there looking to humiliate Chael as long as possible before finishing him, he'll have a lot of chances to go for it.
Still though, I've said before that Chael laid out the blueprint to beat Silva, but I didn't know if he was good enough to do it against a healthy Spider. If Silva wins, it doesn't seem like there's many more option to throw him against. Maybe have Bisping and Stann recover and fight each other, then give him the winner? He's really running out of prospects...
Evderyone emphasizes on a healthy Silva...damm eno one can win like a man or get his ass kicked like one either.
Also, Munoz is the only one left who might be a threat...
Bisping hasnt beat anyone close to number 1 contender.....
i think Bisping beat Chael in their fight....the only reason Chael got the nod was because this fight will be a money maker another 20 seconds and Bisping would have finished him.
Constant antagonizing from Chael will be the downfall of Silva in this pre fight banter
I do have to agree that anger is a bad thing for Anderson. That said If AS has made the right adjustments (and he is a combat genius) he will destroy Chael.
Andy will take your back and you will fall in love just before the tap out..
When you think about the caliber of fighter Anderson has beaten and the way he has just walked through them and then this guy Chael Sonnen who is just a wrestler comes along and knocks him down standing up, there is only one explanation that makes any sense. Anderson was very hurt or sick, beyond a broken rib (as bad as that is) in the first fight. Anderson is going to clown this guy.
i think you are in for a rude awakening
Or Anderson had just never fought a fighter that had this caliber of wrestler (185 has had very few, even the great Hendo is not on Chael's level when it comes to MMA wrestling). So he was unable to just find somebody's timing, and got clipped multiple times as he had no idea when Chael was going to shoot or strike.
Then again it also could have been an injury that made him look like shit. I guess we'll see in the rematch. However, Anderson has already dropped rumors that he's fighting hurt so maybe he's getting excuses ready.
Most pussies do......
most pussies dont have excusing for winning :/
Chokepeople you have your head up your own ass and dont have any idea what hell your talking about. First of all if you watched the first fight Anderson would not have been able to go the whole distance if he was REALLY HURT....You are just as ignorant to believe the hype about Anderson being hurt. Chael knocked Silva down numerous times, wrestled him down, GNP....for over 24min....
There is nothing that Silva can learn in the span of a year to counter a world class wrestler and fighter like Sonnen...It doesnt matter what kind of wrestling coach comes in to help him. A person isnt able to develope those skills that easy...It takes years of repetetive practice.
Silva was trying to fight back with punches and kicks and whatever he could put together against Chael. But the reality was he was getting pursued and having his ass handed to him. Unfortunately Chael made a mistake and got caught like he did against another brazillian Paulo Filo. But the remath was exactly the same ass kicking to the end, and No Mistakes. Chael won....
I think the reason Chael met with so much success is that everyone is cared of Silva's striking, and they're entirely too cautious. When they allow him to set the pace, he finds their ranges and beats them senseless. Chael just came forward and didn't give him a chance to set up anything. Anderson has better stand up for sure, but everyone respects it a bit too much. If more people tried to rush him, get inside and not give him an opportunity to set up, he'd have to work a lot harder for the victories he gets.
Ichoke: thankyou for thinking, it makes commenting much easier.
*scared
very true
Maybe but I doubt it. We all knew Sonnen had an edge wrestling and he still does. He is the best MMA wrestler in the world at 185. The fact is though that he out struck AS!!!! in some of the exchanges in the first fight. When has Chael out struck anybody?
Except maybe for Munoz. That remains to be seen IMO. Most people give Chael the edge there but I think it is debatable.
@choke- Well actually, Chael out struck everyone he has fought in the UFC. Except maybe Stann and Bisping. But with Stann Chael wasn't even on the feet much at all anyway.
NO HE HASN'T! GNP does not count as out striking.
its no good out out striking with pillow fists....Sonnen has no power in his strikes......look at his record.....11 losses out of 39 pillow fights.
Wait, I just realized you said standing. BWAHAHAHAHA!
Kinda lame that he makes this statement now and not when Silva actually said it to him.
Sonnen is a great personality but it's kinda pussy how he rarely says things when the guy can make a comeback or laigh off his crap there and then.
He did what Sonnen always does, he bitched out and hung up the phone.
He was too scared to give A.S a response when the conference call took place.
I think that Anderson hung up the phone first if I recall correctly. Once Chael hears Anderson not respond he hangs up.
Sonnen is not scared of Silva, this is a dumb statement
He is ..thats why He is taking ped's
good said.
sonnen is a little pu*sy bit*h!!!
"good said".....sure for!..............you man hammer on the nail hit!
"I will find a way to win, I always do". What way did you win the first time?
That tap he claims never happened was actually his super secret finishing move that causes the ref to step in and stop the fight. For some reason they still declared AS the winner. It was really unfair.
he always does ....except the 11 times he lost .
Screw the fight with Anderson, how about his fight with Demian Maia? There was about 30 seconds of stand up, 30 seconds of avoiding the ground, then 15 seconds of him getting dropped on his face, mounted, and choked out. Great winning strategy there Chael.
Cheatie will be bruised up badly, or better yet, he will be pushed out of the Octagon in a wheelchair
OUCH. You know, I really despise Chael as a person but seriously, we shouldn't wish that kind of harm on anyone. I totally understand where you are coming from though.
Right on Undie!
Oh No, I don't really want to see Cheatie get injured like that..lmao. I just want to see him being pushed out on a wheelchair just for that one night, no more than that.
Okay, I have to admit, THAT would be sort of satisfying LOL
or that he injured his jaw for 6 month and wouldnt be able to speak...
that would be called the Karma attack...
I hope he send Anderson Silva back to Brazil...he was just lucky on the first fight...cant wait to see that fight!
I think Chael Is the only human left that uses the word ”Dummy.”
Whatever you say dummy....8P...8))
Chael's PEDs nullified his success in the first fight. This second fight, provided Chael isn't enhanced, will be the real deciding factor of this rivalry.
Personally I wish both of them would leave the UFC, hows that for bias opinion?
...and the new Middleweight Champion of the world..... Michael "The Count" Bisping!!
Middleweight isn't exactly a stacked division, and Bisping almost beat Chael when they fought. I don't think there's all that many people that'd give Mikey much of a problem if both of them left.
Chael is hyping the fight good for him, Anderson is starting to take the 'trash' a bit personally, this is bad for Chael. We all know AS was off his game that night and that Chael was 25x the man he should be do to TEST. I just hope AS doesn't seriously hurt Chael becasue Brazilians get emotional. I am assuming that we all know Chael 'trash' talk is a wrestling light version and is done 'in character' the problem is Anderson may think otherwise.
Chael has never been knocked out, but he has been submitted. Anderson cannot wrestle at Chael's level any more than Chael can strike at Anderson. It will be all about whoever imposes their will on the other.
I actually find myself wondering who would be superior in the clinch. That might be an area they're pretty close to even.
Chael will win, neather are my favorite fighter
me "neither"
Sonnen destroyed Anderson in the first fight stunding and on the ground i dont see Anderson geting out of this one with lucky last moment submition. Is gona be hard fight for Anderson if Sonnen improwed his submition game
Rindy, are you dumber than stone crack u think Cheal win my no way Jose he will tap or sleep you dumb stump
"u think Cheal win my no way Jose"
And you're calling people dumb?......double face palm....
Rindy, are you dumber than stone crack u think Cheal win my no way Jose he will tap or sleep you dumb stump
