CFA 11 Results Recap: Fallon Fox Remains Undefeated

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSHIControversial transgender fighter Fallon Fox added another win to her unbeaten record tonight at CFA 11, and advanced in the featherweight tourney in the process. She took on relatively inexperienced Allanna Jones, who sits at only 2-2 after the loss.

Fox spent much of the early rounds stalking Jones down to attempt a series of strikes, scoring with several low kicks. But her striking never found a true rhythm, and her takedown game was hit-and-miss. Though fatigued, Fox eventually got the fight to the ground in the second and third, softening up her opponent with some strikes. The last round saw Fox end the fight with a slick knee choke from north-south position.

And so the debate over Fallon Fox will rage on with each opponent she finishes. She’s on the verge of gaining a tournament title onto her resume, but she did seem to tire a bit towards the end of her victory. While she was never in any danger, a fight with an experienced featherweight using an unpredictable gameplan might give Fox fits at this point in her career at 3-0. That remains to be seen, but every step of the way will be in the spotlight.

The main event of the night was most definitely overshadowed by the hype and circumstance surrounding Fox, but two very experienced fighters squared off when Mike Kyle faced off with Travis Wiuff. Kyle was last seen getting manhandled by Gegard Mousasi at the last Strikeforce event ever.

Though the two had a previous matchup with a controversial ending that saw Kyle KO Wiuff with an uppercut at the bell, there seemed to be no bad blood between the fighters. This time around, the ending was much more definitive as Kyle rocked Wiuff with a big left hook and finished with some elementary ground strikes. Thinking the bout could have been ended earlier, Kyle stressed he did not want to hurt his opponent.

In other action, Luis Palomino looked impressive with a first round knockout of Robert Washington. Sean Soriano held onto his CFA interim featherweight belt with a decision win over Elvin Brito. The only other finish of the night was a second round submission of Oscar Delgado by Eddie “Truck” Gordon. All in all, a solid, entertaining card for the Florida-based CFA promotion.
