Carlos Condit Makes Interesting Prediction For Lawler vs. Woodley

The coming month will be very interesting in terms of the UFC welterweight title picture. UFC 201 is the pay-per-view on offer this weekend, and it will feature the 170-pound championship bout between Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley as the main event. ‘Ruthless’ has been part of some gruelling wars in recent bouts, for ‘The Chosen One’ this will be his first ever UFC title fight. Also on offer at UFC on FOX 21 is Carlos Condit vs. Demian Maia, which could in turn lead to a number of interesting rematches.

If ‘The Natural Born Killer’ can get past the dangerous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace on August 27, he has unfinished business with both Woodley and Lawler, one of whom will be holding that coveted gold strap. ‘T-Wood’ handed Condit his first ever TKO loss, by injury, at UFC 171. ‘NBK’ lost a very narrow split decision to ‘Ruthless’ at UFC 195.

Condit

It was very interesting to hear Brian Stann’s interview with Condit recently, and the Jackson’s MMA product made quite an intriguing prediction for this weekend’s (Saturday July 30, 2016) UFC 201 main event.

“I think it’s an interesting match up, both these guys they surge and they rest. Tyron Woodley tends to go hard and then get tired later on. Lawler recharges his batteries and rests. I think the fight will be won by the guy who can keep up the pressure during those periods of rest. Honestly I’m going to have to go with Woodley, Robbie Lawler is a phenomenal fighter, but he’s been in so many wars now. I’m wondering how much of a toll these have taken on him. Woodley is very new in the sport compared to Lawler, he hasn’t been in these wars, he’s also fast and explosive, so I’m picking Woodley to win.”

Interesting, and somewhat against the grain of predictions going around at the minute. Will we see Tyron Woodley vs. Carlos Condit 2 for the belt? ‘The Natural Born Killer’ is certainly seeing it fold out that way.
