‘Bigfoot’ Silva: The Referee Won’t Be Able To Hold Me Back When I Finish Josh Barnett

UFC heavyweights Josh Barnett and Antonio Silva have been involved in quite the war of words recently, after the big Brazilian called out ‘Warmaster’ on Twitter. Barnett responded by saying he wouldn’t give ‘Bigfoot’ the time of day, and it seems those comments may have riled Silva up a bit more.

Silva spoke to MMAFighting.com about his sentiments towards Barnett, and rather predictably, they are not savoury. Check it out:

“I woke up this morning and saw his interview. He’s giving excuses because he’s scared. That’s the word. He says he won’t fight me because he doesn’t want to give me name and money with this fight, but the truth is he’s scared.I think he should take a look at the rankings. I’m ranked at no. 4 and he’s no. 5. The last guy that beat him got knocked out by me.”

‘Bigfoot’ is referring to Travis Browne, who annihilated Barnett with his trademark elbows at UFC 168. Silva had won with a sensational knockout of his own against ‘Hapa’ back at UFC on FX 5. It seems that the Brazilian is looking to restart his form after a draw that turned to a no-contest against Mark Hunt last December. He continues:

“He crossed a line with his words in that interview,” he said. “It was unprofessional, but it was good because he gave me another reason to train hard. I was so pumped up this morning that I went to the gym and trained even more. That’s how I like. If he wasn’t educated by his mother, I’ll teach him a lesson.”

“He’s so cocky. He made fun about my disease (acromegaly) in the past,” Bigfoot responded. “If you don’t want to be polite, I get it, but making fun of other’s diseases is too much. I was really upset with that. I would go for the knockout all the time. I would try to hurt him as much as possible. I want to finish him like I did to Overeem, but I’m not sure the referee will be able to hold me this time.”

Well, it seems as though Barnett’s recent jives were just the icing on the cake for a very angry ‘Bigfoot’. I have to say that I agree with him in his statement about the rankings, and that ‘Warmaster’ would do well to remember that he is only 1-1 for the promotion at the moment. With their paths looking more and more likely to cross, who would you pick in this battle of the giants?
