Set to face up-and-coming talent Travis Browne at UFC on Fox 4 on August 4th, veteran Heavyweight Ben Rothwell has made drastic changes to his training. The changes appeared to have helped him out, as he scored a brutal knockout of Brendan Schaub at UFC 145 last April. Now Rothwell has come out with a bold statement heading into his Los Angeles bout this summer:

"I'll openly say, the winner of this fight is going to go on and win the heavyweight title.” - via MMAJunkie.com

Quite the bold prediction from a fighter who sits at 2-2 in the UFC, but Rothwell is obviously not lacking in confidence after changing his diet and quitting watching film on his opponents so he would not become rigid in his expectations of them. Rothwell also has the belief that he can help the UFC gain better rating with his performances, summing it up:

"This is exciting for me because it is a statement. The ratings have kind of been all over the place. I don't think the ratings have been as strong as they could be. I think Aug. 4 is going to be a good card, for sure. I think it's going to be a turning point."

Ben Rothwell has his sights set on lofty goals in the UFC. Will they come true? Only time will tell, but the newly revamped Rothwell left his fellow Heavyweights with the following words to chew on:

"Good luck to the rest of the guys. I'm coming for you, and it's going to happen. People are going to start crying real soon.”

A little too confident after a sloppy win. He was losing that round and was very fortunate that Shuab has no chin. If he beats Browne I will take those words more seriously.

he fills out the division in terms of the bottom half but i honestly cant see him beating werdum, carwin, big foot, mir, velasquez, overeem or jds those guys are monsters but then again you never know he is looking in a lot better shape and could pull off an upset

I like where his heads at, and how he looked physically in his last appearance, but the skill level of the top HW's are too much for Benny boy IMO.

The way the HW division is right now, you have to b an elite striker to get that belt and well rounded.

Honestly, I think it's possible. The thing about the heavy weights is that majority of them have the power to knock each other out. Nobody has held the belt in the UFC over two defenses. I cannot see anybody at the moment to hold the belt for as long as Anderson/GSP at Heavy Weight. MMA math rarely works, and it works even less at heavy.

I like Ben, but i dont see him getting even in the top 5.

Travis Browne is going to give him a really check.

The winner of Rothwell vs Browne as the heavyweight champ? Can't see that one happening.

Big Ben has power in his hands, a decent chin and if he keeps the spare tire off, he will be better...but not that much better.

If he was 24, I'd say it was possible. At the age of 30, he might get a title shot but that will probably be as close as he comes to the belt.

Dudes got the size & the confidence. I just don't see him not getting his ass kicked by Browne.
