Australia vs. Canada: A Look At TUF: Nations

Dana White recently announced that Canadian Patrick Cote and Australian Kyle Noke will face off as coaches for the next International instalment of TUF Nations due in early 2014.

The series is all about 170 lb. welterweights, and tryouts will begin in September in Sydney Australia followed by Toronto.  It will air nationally in Canada on Rogers Sportsnet and TVA Sports and on FX Networks in Australia.

Kyle Noke was an original participant on TUF Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz back in 2010. Noke lost a decision in the quarterfinals to Ortiz’s team member Kris McCray. When in the US, Noke trains under Greg Jackson and has wins over Charlie Brenneman (TKO), Chris Camozzi (Submission) and a draw against Hector Lombard. He has been fighting professionally since 2002 and has a wealth of experience. Noke was also a former personal bodyguard for three years to the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin.

Patrick Cote made his UFC debut in 2004 against Tito Ortiz on four days notice. Although he lost to decision he put on an impressive and brave effort. In 2006 Cote became a contestant on the Ultimate Fighter however his record with the UFC dropped to 0-4 after losing to Travis Lutter in the finals. Cote has had mixed success in the UFC and has fought predominantly at Middleweight.  He is often credited for his toughness against Anderson Silva in which he ate some heavy shots before retiring due to a right knee injury in the third round. Cote has now found a home at welterweight and will be relying on his boxing, Muay Thai and brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to get the job done.
