Anderson Silva Signs With Worldwide TV & Movie Agency

Former UFC middleweight champion and MMA legend Anderson Silva is renowned for his in-cage antics; fights against Demian Maia, Thales Lietes and Chris Weidman I displayed ‘The Spider’ in full clowning mode, but sweet finishes against Forrest Griffin, Stephen Bonnar, Vitor Belfort and Nate Marquardt show that it does work most of the time.

Silva’s theatrical antics may be starting to expand beyond fighting and MMA/UFC, as a report by movie industry site Deadline.com claims that ‘The Spider’ has recently signed with a Hollywood talent agency. ICM Partners is the company Silva signed for, and they deal with worldwide movie, TV and publishing endorsements.

So what does signing this new deal mean for the former king pin at 185? It may spring to mind that retirement is on the horizon, and at age 38 the cracks will eventually, or may have already started to show. MMA is not a lifelong career after all.

Other superstars that have cashed in on the movie industry include Ronda Rousey in Fast and Furious/Expendables, Gina Carano, and even Cung Le. Only one of the aforementioned has retired from MMA, so maybe it would be possible for Silva to keep up in both worlds.

Perhaps Silva is just setting up his next line of work, and having a realistic outlook on his immediate future. Reports are that Silva’s recovery from the freak leg injury in December are faster than expected, and a loss in his comeback would mean that retirement is almost imminent.

A win could also mean the same thing though, as Silva may feel he has accomplished what he desires and will go out on top. ‘The Spider’ is living proof that MMA stars can be worldwide celebrities. In his home nation of Brazil, Silva is a national hero.

Everybody in Brazil is a huge fan of ‘The Spider’, and the country felt the pain of Silva’s two brutal losses at UFC 162/168. We don’t know what the future holds for Silva in the UFC, but chances are he will get linked to some big films if that is what he wants to do.
