In a video courtesy of MMAFighting.com, UFC Middleweight champion and perennial pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva weighs in on the future of his fighting career past this weekend's UFC 153 bout with Stephan Bonnar. The champ says that it has been nice not having to cut weight while fighting at Light Heavyweight. He then goes on to discuss that he may be leaving the Middleweight division, but he in unsure. Silva states his focus on getting the fight that everyone wants right now, a superfight with Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. While speculation runs rampant, Silva has repeatedly stressed he is not too enamored with any of the fights that 185 has left to offer. Who will face Anderson Silva in his next bout?

I don't want to see gsp vs silva anymore, idk about you guys but it doesn't hold the same value as it did before. Silva might not think he does but gsp still has a lot of fights left at 170, plus we still haven't seen Diaz/gsp which I think is a better fight right now. Not to mention silva vs jones

It doesn't hold the same value as it did before you are right but I still would pay double the price of a normal PPV just to watch this fight.

This fight has been wanted and wished for, for too long, to not happen.

I don't think our sport has ever seen the true #1 and #2 best fighter on the planet fight, a couple are arguable such as Fedor Cro Cop but this fight will still be a thing of legend for the entire history and future of MMA.

Silva like the GSP fight because the PPV numbers would be huge and win or lose he would retire with a couple million more dollars than he had before. Of course he wants to stay undefeated and GSP is smaller but we know the double leg is AS kryptonite (even though he is good on the ground). Nonetheless 2 million is probably more attractive than remaining undefeated don't ya think? and if GSP loses so what everybody loses to Anderson so it is no great hit to his reputation either.

uh.. chael is probably gonna say 'i told you so' on the whole speaking english thing, sure he's no poet, but he certainly has a much better handle on the language than he let's on, there's no doubt about that. He understood all the questions, answered them appropriately, and didn't need to have herpes soares come and re-arrange his words to sound more pleasant.

Wow - his English has gotten a lot better. The George Safe-Pierre fight would be a waste of time, Andy, let it go. It's not worth it. He wants no part of you.

Do you think he may have learned more over the last year or so leading in to the Sonnen rematch?

Think about how super quick JDS became basically fluent in the language, it's not that hard to image Anderson improving over the last year.

Before my current job I worked for a number of years as an interpreter. I think I can tell you what was happening there. Anderson has never said he couldn't speak English. It's just that when the conversation is important it is easier and more comfortable to speak in Portuguese. I suspect he could have spoken English in any interview we have ever seen him in but at times he'd rather focus on what he is saying rather than how to say it.

Chael's no dummy. He knows that he was just trying to get his goat (pun intended).

Could be a great way to finish his career. Although might belittle any future MW champs for the next couple of years. How many fights does he have left on his contract?

P.S. I bet Chael is gutted that he has just announced his move to LHW

If he vacates I wonder if he means moving to 170 or finish his career with that fight?

I hope he doesn't vacate it though as if he wins he will add to his legendary list of accomplishments, being the first and only man to hold two belts at the same time in the UFC.

Silva vs Jones would sure be very exiting but Silva vs GSP somehow is extremely attractive to me cause I think those 2 are so far the technically and strategically best fighters the Sport of MMA has produced so far. Does that make sense ?

You could argue that Silva took more damage in his first fight with Sonnen than Jones has taken through his entire career and Jones has fought higher calibre opponents of late than Silva has been, Belfort being the exception. On that basis alone you could say technically he is the best, but then he does have a massive reach advantage to factor in. For me personally, I regard Edgar as the best technical fighter, but it's only opinion.

Ultimately there's so many good fighters you could debate the pros and cons of who is technically and strategically the best all day long. Being champs for a long time does hold weight but that doesn't automatically make them the best in MMA.

Wow, vacate the crown? If he means that, I wonder if he intends on retiring after fighting GSP?

MMA is so unpredictable, it makes me laugh when people write of the #2 p4p fighter.

Silva just said he doesn't have to cut weight for 205. Silva can balloon up if he doesn't stay active. GSP does not walk at 170. He walks at 192-198. Silva has walked at 192 before as well because he was staying active. Silva has many times come in a few pounds under 185 for his fights. GSP is always active and heavily muscled. Anderson has fought slightly below GSPs fight weight. GSPs reach is 1.5 inches shorter than Andersons and Jones reach is 7 inches greater than Andersons. 205 is 20lbs heavier than 185 and 185 is only 15lbs heavier than 170. Yes Silva has weighed 225 but he was inactive. Silva talks about eating burgers and barbequeing and GSP joked he did the same but then said he was joking and that it was not true. GSP is dedicated to constant training and staying in shape at 31 and Silva just trains before a fight at 37. Silva has a wife and kids he needs to spend time with GSP has all the time in the world for MMA. Jones is like GSP and if it weren't for Greg Jackson he would not maintain 225 walking around. Just look at the attitude difference between GSP and Silva and you get an idea of their work ethics. GSP, cyborg focused, Anderson, laid back until business time. I'm only 5'9 and I walk around at 205, because I don't train as hard to stay in shape.

The true #1 and #2 fighters will forever be opinion based now there are weight classes. Edgar Jones GSP Aldo Silva JDS Condit and the list goes on. As for best in weight on the planet I think GSP - Condit is as good as it gets and Edgar - Aldo is as good as it gets and Silva - Jones is as good as it gets.

Someone should tell Silva if he wants to be remembered as the GOAT then he has to man up to Jones, otherwise he'll be known for fighting lower class fighters other than Hendo and ducking Jones who looks unstoppable. They should also mention that if he doesn't KO GSP and loses then he will have destroyed his reputation.

After Silva said that fighting Jones was out of the question and he has his eyes set on smaller GSP...I kinda of hate the guy. To me this just smells of a pussy who wants to fight guys he know he has a advantage over. His ego really has take off and someone need to bring him back down. Looking at his record the only big names that really pops out are Dan, Rich, Forest, and James. The rest look like tin cans. But **** it he is the champion and if he really want to fight GSP..I hope he loses so much weight and strength that GSP Kicks his ****ing ass. What a pussy..fighting guys that you know you can beat is not honorable or a challenge.
