Alistair Overeem: Jones vs Silva is not going to happen
Posted on July 23, 2012, 01:55 PM by Mike SearsonAlistair Overeem was recently called on to judge the K-1 tryouts in Southern California. MMA Interviews spoke with him about his return to the Octagon, a potential Jon Jones matchup with Anderson Silva and his picks for UFC 150.
On his return to the Octagon, The Reem is hoping for it to happen in December and while he does not know whom he will face, he says he will take on anyone: "I'm looking to return in December. It looks like they're going to match Cain with Dos Santos first, but you know, I'm a fighter. I've fought for 15 years now, no matter who they put in front of me."
On the possibility of a Jon Jones vs. Anderson Silva fight, he doesn't see it happening: "I spoke to Jon. He said, 'No, I don't want to fight him because he's my mentor', this and that. So, that fight is not going to happen. Unfortunately for the fans, and unfortunately for me because I would like to see that."

So Jones is too close with SIlva to fight him, but he could fight Rashad after training with him for over a year....
Why hasn't GSP fought anyone in the MW division? I'm sure he is one of your favorite fighters.
Why do you even post?
Did you intend for that post to make sense? Because GSP, and who my favorite fighters are have little to do with my point or this article.
But I guess I did say the name "Silva" in it so you were bound to reply.
Leave GSP out of this because he might read your comment, start crying causing him to have major surgery & be out another17 months due to infected tear ducts.
LMAO...haha... "I'm Not Impressed By Your Performance"
His "mentor", ha.
You know what fight is also not going to happen anytime soon Reem vs anyone
At least Silva never said he would not fight GSP (the smaller guy) and that is what Jones is doing.
Overeem should know, after all he is the master of making sure super fights don't happen.... JDS ring a bell?
230 lbs Anderson vs GSP how low can you go
He is not 230. Look at him on fight night. He is long and scrawny and usually looks like he is lighter than the guy he is fighting. Chael looked bigger, Vitor is definitely bigger and Franklin is much bigger. Silva is not a huge guy he is just tall.
Competing against your idol seems like a dream to me, I do not understand why it's a problem. I thought the point was to see who is the best fighter.
As they say, some things in the universe are best to remain "unknown". Silva vs Jones is one of them. If they don't want to fight eachother, then they don't have to fight eachother. They're in different weight classes, and both have business to do and more ppl to fight in their weight glasses.
