It looks like the former number one contender for the UFC Heavyweight crown, Alistair Overeem, is serious about fighting Jon Jones. According to Overeem, Jon Jones' move up to Heavyweight is inevitable, due to his physical frame. In addition, the Dutchman declared he would be more than happy to test his skills against Jones, and find the keys to victory against one of the most dominant champions in UFC history.

You can be a gifted striker but I reckon the experience will always have an advantage, and K-1 GP world champion is no joke. If you put the aspect of popping pills to gain significant advantage aside, I'd put my money on Overeem for sure.

Jon Jones is a great fighter/ future HOF, but I still wonder if he would be able to beat the likes of Overeem, JDS as a HW fighter. Well, only time will tell.

Same, I just find it hard to imagine Jones taking the power shots from Reem or Junior. I reckon if Overeem used his kleg kicks it could be a short night

Jon Jones only looks good because he has such a huge length advantage. His striking technique is versatile but sloppy. I do not see him breaking the top 5 at HW.

Imo Overeem ist not on JDS's level. And I'd put my money on Jones if he ever got to fight Overeem any day. Jones vs JDS is another story. I think JDS's boxing is far better than overeem's, k1 champ or not. that's what would make the difference if they faught each other. Jones' reach & wrestling will be a big problem for pretty much everyone. but man...if JDS connects its lights out.

Cain is going to take JDS down and ground and pound him untill he knocks him out. Then he's gonna fight donkey kong here and send overeem into oblivion.

I can see JDS V Cain going either way. The last fight was, in my mind, predicated on Cain's rustiness. Cain V Overeem I see going to Overeem. I don't see Cain keeping him down.

Look at the size of Overeem's arms..... they're bigger than Jones' legs FFS. Maybe Jones will move up to HW in good time but it's way too soon yet. LHW to HW is a huge leap due to the top end weight limit of the HW division.

As far as Jones being a HOF he has already earned that with his domination of the best the LHW division had to offer. Don't forget he destroyed Rua, Machida, Rampage and others and is established as a p4p great up there with GSP and Silva and Edgar.

PS: If Jones does ever make the move he should take a year out to put on good weight and not go too soon. It took Overeem several years of horse meat and whatever else he was injecting/popping to bulk up as he is today and Jones should not make a fast switch because as good as he is he'll be giving up massive strength disadvantage and I doubt he's as good as Edgar fighting as a smaller fighter.

Jones' own arms are bigger than his legs. Of course Reems are.

Jones has the wrestling to make himself viable at HW, but he would still need to take some time off to build muscle instead of just getting fat to gain weight. BJ Penn got fat to move up in weight and pulled it off a few times, but the weight limit from LHW to HW isn't just a 10 pound difference like other weight classes. The big boys at HW are monsters, and despite his freakish talent, Jones would be overpowered if he didn't do it right. If he takes notes from Reem on how to build muscle, I think he would have no problem continuing his dominance at HW, but if he just stops cutting weight he will get overpowered and KTFO by Reem or JDS.

overeem has higher credentials in kickboxing, power and experience, they have the same reach and overeem will be juiced(hopefully responsibly)

if the odds are all in jones favor, this is my gravy train

Does anyone ever consider the possibility that Overeem actually just worked his ass off in the gym over a few years to legitimately build up that physique? It's not like he is so big that it's unnatural, he's is just way bigger then most people in mma or even K-1. Brock Lesnar spent years in the WWE where they dont test for PEDs and it is was more common than actual professional sports but no one ever questions whether he has ever used them. I guess he must have got that big on his own but there's no way the Reem did even tho they r bout the same size.

When you look at the incremental wt gains Overeem made it is entirely possible that he did it naturally. That said, it seems unlikely (although freak things do happen) that the testosterone spike that got him suspended happened without juice. Also, to be fair many people, myself included, said that Lesner was probably juicing.
