Alistair Overeem Nearing Move To Greg Jackson’s Camp

No. 6-ranked UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has been in the news quite a bit lately, from his supposedly lackluster decision win over Frank Mir at UFC 169, to his refusal to face Junior dos Santos, to his blackzilians_ahead_of_ufc_169_frank_mir_fight_301597″>departure from Florida’s Blackzilians’ team, to finally his surgery for a pinched nerve earlier today.

“Here’s the big news. Just a couple of weeks ago, he met with Team Jackson-Winkeljohn in New Mexico, and they talked about him doing his next training camp with that team now that he is gone from the Blackzilians. He has confirmed this to me, he is very happy with how that meeting went. I spoke to Greg Jackson about this; he was happy about it, he said he’s going to bring him in, see if he gels with the team.

Even Travis Browne, who beat him back in August, said, ‘very excited about the prospect of fighting with Alistair Overeem.’ So it’s not set in stone just yet, but Alistair Overeem could be headed to Albuquerque very soon.”

Jackson’s camp in New Mexico is an interesting choice for Overeem, as he lost to Browne and defeated Mir, who also recently trained there but does not anymore. Still, the discipline-focused gameplans of Coach Jackson could undoubtedly benefit Overeem.
