Thats the father instincts, your ok as long as you dont see your son pounded unconscious. Cant blame him, but Machida did plenty of pounding himself to get 17 back to back wins. I can see machida going for one more shot at the title, but it will depend on how he bounces back from that bad KO and how Shogun comes back from knee surgery and if he still has the title as a result of the knee surgery.

Iknow what he means in the 30s and older when your chin gets tested

and you go out you have to have a different style of fighting cause it will never be the same but his style is great and think that he should take a tune up to regroup or fight Rashad since there is so much time before

Rua can fight....Rashad is scared anyway...he will fight anyone but know a huge chance to lose....cause most want that chance to get the win over a lose but in his interview he said he would rather wait...

I'm worried Lyoto's dad wants his son's spotlight too much.

Lyoto needs his family's support not this BULLSHIT!

    Next fight Lyoto vs Yoshizo!

now being serious i dont think he should retire , theres no shame on being KO by Shogun .

i would like to see him been more agressive and fight Jon Jones

He seems very wise and he does have 50 years of experience. I like what he said about Lyoto's spirit being ready.

you can never grow and learn if you can't feel defeat. all the loss(undefeated) right now will just make them more hungrier and motivated.

retire after his first loss, why? i think he can beat anyone in the lhw division (Shogun would be a struggle but it is achievable) so why retire? he needs to make money and he is very good at his job. Plus he is raking in the cash at his level

It would e ridiculous if Lyoto retired. He is a awesome fighter and I believe he can beat any one. Retiring after your first loss is like quitting in tag once you're it

Lyoto will be back and retain the title again shoguns a good fighter but this knee injury could be starting the end of Shoguns amazing career in MMA hope not I would love to see Machida v Shogun III

This is probably the only time it was repaired correctly. UFC doesnt send their fighters to the corner clinic.

Hes already walking, surgery went well and will be back around January.

Wanderlie,Rua they are all get knees surgery ,tell you what knees surgery is bad especially for a fighter and Machida & Lil Nog get hands surgery ,this is a bad sign ,so Machida father were right if you wining and keeps wining ,someone after a loses only destroyed your spirits, but in this case I hope Machida recovery mentally and physically.imo
