Wladimir Klitschko: I have a lot of respect for MMA fighters
Posted on January 16, 2012, 06:38 PM by Anton GurevichOne of the most dominant (if not the most dominant) Heavyweights in the history of boxing, Dr. Steelhammer Wladimir Klitschko, shared his thoughts about training and competing in Mixed Martial Arts. Unlike many other boxers, Klitschko gave a lot of credit to MMA competition, claiming that such sport requires a high level of technique and athletic abilities. Klitschko admitted that he would love to train MMA for fitness, but dismissed the idea of possibly competing as a mixed martial artist.
Thirty-five year old Dr. Steelhammer is 56-3 in his career, currently holding the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, IBO & The Ring Heavyweight titles.

Probably the best and only thing that came out of him that I liked.Great champ off course(thus, the record) but I'm not a fan of his style
yeah who would like a boxer who has 50+ KO's in 56 wins, soooo boring
My bad 49 KO's
jab jab jab grap, jab jab jab grap, jab jab jab grap....
really funny...ok he has 49 KO and who he is fighting??? Any real champ? any real chalanger? Ones he faced a real champ "lennox lewis" he tear to klishko a new one literally...
And no im not an amerikan can i dont care if he is russian, Ukrainian or whatever...
LOL you didn't even get the right brother. Shows how much you know about what you're talking.
Obviously what he meant is that he is Russian.
Ukrainian.
im french and i hate klisco sisters
Thats what Obviously i meant
Well done Vladdy! Hopefully other boxers will follow suit and stop feeling obligated to compare the two sports and make stupid comments.
Vladdy got balls indeed.
For some odd reason, mainstream boxers don't issue positive comments nor support MMA publicly.
because most boxers (esp. self-centered arrogant ones; manny likes mma too) are jealous of the rising popularity of MMA to declined of boxing.
Pac-Man's got incredible athleticism, toughness, heart, and hands. Judging by how he blossomed under Freddie Roach's tutelage, I'd say he learns quickly too. He'd probably be able to train wrestling for a year or so and tear it up from low to moderate levels of UFC, but there's no reason for him to when he has it made as a boxer.

Vitali Klitschko in a kickboxing fight.
I don't understand why a professional fight in both sports would bad mouth or discount each other legitimacy. Although MMA and boxing are both combat it's totally different one IS NOT better than the other it's all about preference like apples and oranges they are both fruits but is not better than the other.
Nice to see Wladamir give MMA it's due. I think Klitshcko is very clever, especially at self-promotion...
..but you can only call him one of the most dominant champs of all time if you qualify that by acknowledging he's dominated the weakest heavyweights crop of all time.
I think if you matched any top 5 heavyweight from the previous five decades, they knock the stuffing out of Dr. Wladimir.
Nice to see a professional boxewr with brains...He obviously see the multi function abilities that is needed to become an MMA fighter. Very very difficult. Not for everyone.........
He will be a good inspiration to the MMA gyn he attends. Maybe he can help that gym in the area of boxing....stand up
