What's next for Dan Henderson? Dana White struggles to answer

Speaking at the UFC 145 pre-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White related to the situation around Dan Henderson's next fight inside the Octagon. White admitted he still "has no idea what to do" with the crafty veteran, also revealing that the Team Quest leader rejected the opportunity to fight with Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida:

Quote via The UG

"He doesn't want to fight Machida," White said following last night's UFC on FUEL event. "He doesn't want to wait. He's going to have to wait. Who does he want to fight? I don't know what to do with Dan. Dan's either going to have to wait for Jones or wait for Silva. Or fight somebody else."

Dan Henderson is currently on the most impressive streak of his MMA career, with victories over Renato Sobral, Feijao Cavalcante, Fedor Emelianenko, and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua.

At the age of 41, and with 15 years of MMA experience behind his back, it looks like Henderson understand he has one final title run left in him. Hendo has already previously declined the offer to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Hendrson himself declared via Twitter he was never offered a fight with Lyoto Machida, claiming that the former UFC Light Heavyweight champ is still an "entertaining" fight, despite the fact that he lost 3 of his last 4 fights.

well Dan you did turn down little Nog, and its been stated you need 13 weeks for a training camp, you got to be a little easier to work with.

Dan is affraid of losing to Machida , because Machida jsut got beat by jones ,so if he would lose the match, he would be very far from another title shot.

Maybe he can fight the winner of rampage vs bader

He could be fighting Fedor... could be a great fight even though Hendo would knock Fedor out.

Humm wait, that really happened right?

everybody gets knocked out from time to time, fedors been knocked out once in his career and dominated for a decade, i dont care who you are but if you dominate for a decade, you might slip seeing how you dominated for a decade, hes been getting fat for like 4 years but he has been putting on muscle since the hendo fight, if anybody can make a run at the title its the last emperor

You did see his 3 fight losing streak right, when he started to fight better competition after 4 - 5 years LOL !

He will soon be the LOST EMPEROR !

His legacy will fade for good reason !

I'd like to see that rematch. If only because I feel the first one was stopped too early after an illegal shot.

What's next for Hendo is a sandwich and lite beer. Who knows what will happen after that.

Dan doesn't drink beer, he scares it into evaporating into his stomach.

Fight someone else Dan, if you want the belt then fighting anyone other than Silva or Jones should be nothing to worry about. And fighting instead of waiting should only sharpen your skills.

    More TRT therapy.

Read an interesting interview with the DR who devised the tests for Olympic testing. He said that they have only allowed two people to use TRT therapy, because they had a med condition to justify it.

Just having low testosterone doesn't qualify one for TRT

    Good pull Sambo.

I have never been a proponent for people using it. Especially for five years straight while still competing.

So who do we believe here? Is Dan saying he was never offered the fight because it was never formally offered with a contract? Is Dana just trying to pressure him into competing because he needs more headliners, and there's already the fact that Dan turned down Lil Nog?

All in all if Dan wants to not wait for the Bones-Rashad winner (which would probably be the best idea for him), then he needs to take a fight sooner rather than later.

I agree in that he's more believable than Dana. But I wouldn't say it's by much.

Hendo would destroy Machida IMO. Just 1 clean right over hand (a.k.a H-Bomb) and lights out...

Hendo should fight Shogun again....that first fight was awesome....

Fedor definetly deserves a rematch with hendo.....that stoppge was bullshit....he was recovering.....i've seen Fedor get smashed worse and come back to win

Where is the justice in mma?

But at 41 years, no one wants to take small fights now...Hendo is doing the right thing however age might catch up to him if he sits out too long

    hendo vs couture

    hendo vs wanderlei

    hendo vs shields

    hendo vs kimbo

    hendo vs monson

    hendo vs bisping 2

each fight has its pro's and con's but i think most people would like to see these match-ups for one reason or another...and i think they'd be entertaining fights

personally, i like the bisping rematch as it'll either solidify that hendo is 'the man' and didnt just catch him or, if bisping won and depending, it would show that he hasnt got a glass-jaw like most think
