Wanderlei Silva’s 30-day suspension makes Akiyama bout possible for UFC 115

New South Wales Combat Sports Authority suspended UFC Middleweight legend Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer Silva for just 30 days, following his Unanimous Decision victory over Michael Bisping at the co-main event of UFC 110. Commission’s decision gives Wanderlei Silva enough time to prepare for the blockbuster bout against the Japanese superstar Yoshihiro Akiyama, that is targeted for UFC 115 on June 12th.

Yoshihiro “Sexyama” Akiyama is aware of Wanderlei Silva’s popularity in Japan, which makes him adamant to secure the fight against the Chute Boxe legend. Akiyama is currently 13-1 in his MMA career, with a Split Decision victory over Alan Belcher in his United States debut at UFC 100.

UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Michael Ratner, has confirmed to MMAJunkie that if The Ultimate Fighting Championship would officially decide to schedule the fight for UFC 115 it “will not be a problem”. UFC management will look to impress local fans in their first trip to Vancouver, with bouts like Couture vs Rich Franklin and the third episode of war between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, are already in works.

if you think this is a easy fight for silva you have to look MMA outside the USA and than you know there are a lot of good talented fighters out there^^

akiyama will make more trouble for silva than bisping!!!!!

There is a reason that fighters look so much more explosive in Japan than they do when they come over to a regulated organization. There is a reason that Overoids want to fight Fedor in Japan.

How many epic body slams has Rampage given in the UFC? He’s known for them isn’t he?

This should be a war, Sexyama can stand & trade with the best of them.

Just no hitting Akiyama in the face – then we are good to go. lol

my moneys still on wanderli until the end of time

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/rav3n420 rav3n420

Uh of course he is so that’s why no one puts themselves in that kind of position. Have you seen anyone go for a triangle choke or armbar on him I dont think so because they all know they will get slammed thru the octagon.

yeah silva looked way more mature and controlled out there…plus this was his first at 185 pounds…i think he will do good at 185

someone needs to email wanderlei and ask why doesn’t he throw those lethal clinched knees anymore

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/Hopper Hopper

just go to his Wikipedia page….
you will find the answer in the section called “age”

Why is Wanderlei suspended? I must have missed something. Good match up between he and Akiyama though.

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/Ninja Ninja

cause of the cuts and bruises he took during the fight, he is suspended so he doesnt fight too early and hurt himself even worse, its for the fighters own good

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/DR3W DR3W

yes lots of fighters take steriods over seas but rampage was not one of them and yea he actually slammed griffin and out wrestled hendo

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/ston3pony ston3pony

That’s because he’s fought only strikers. If you think he looks as good in UFC as he did in Pride, then your fooling yourself.

If you knew the standards that fighters with any self respect held themselves to, you would understand that this is all just BS talk. Overeem is going to work Fedor over dude. Thats why Fedor hasn’t put it at the top of his list to fight him. As far as Rampage is concerned… the fighters in the UFC have seen people get severly f***** up in Japan by those slams and are definately not going to put themselves in that position. Also I am pretty sure that the fighting organizations in Japan dont want to be viewed as a joke so I am pretty sure they have extensive drug tests over there too! Use your head befor you open your mouth dude!

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/YoMama YoMama

I said and fighters with any type of self respect! All the fighters that use steroids are either never will be’s or has beens and suck anyway. Its like any other sport. Look at Barroid, he hit homers for the last three years and became the king… but everbody knew he was using because his head was twice the size it was when he started lol. Before that he was mediocre!

this is going 2 be hell of fight

  • http://lowkickmma.com/author/LionDick10 LionDick10

Yea it is too bad that he cant throw those kicks and knees the way he used to back in his pride days. He was so goddamn vicious! If somehow he could bring that back into his arsenal that would be great for him.
