WEC 53 Results: Dominick Cruz defends his title, and becomes the new UFC Bantamweight Champion
Posted on December 16, 2010, 10:13 PM by Anton GurevichWEC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz proved critics wrong once again, with a spectacular Unanimous Decision victory over the credible Scott Jorgensen. Cruz dominated Jorgensen throughout the five rounds of the fight, giving judges no room for errors on all-45-50 scorecards.
Cruz demonstrated a whole package of a fighter. Explosive takedowns, impressive head movement, flying knees, leg kicks, hands speed... you name it. Scott Jorgensen was chasing the reigning Champ, constantly failing to find his pace during a fight. Cruz managed to rock Jorgensen on several occasion, but the tough contender managed to bounce back again and again.
In the end, Dominick Cruz is more than worthy of his new UFC Bantamweight title. The champ called out Urijah Faber in his post-fight interview, what could cataclyst naming the two as coaches for the 13th season of The Ultimate Fighter. This way or another, I personally believe Dominick Cruz is one of the greatest fighters today. Urijah Faber could be the last obstacle before "The Dominator" completely cleans-up the UFC Bantamweight division.

AWESOME fight! Awesome Champion!! Cruz is the Real Deal!
Cruz has one of the most beautiful fighting styles you'll ever see.
Cruz is for sure high p4p he is a beast
Quite unorthodox style. But he's head is low, the punches are a bit loopy and he comes in from far away. One day somebody is going to catch him coming in and it's going to be a quick K.O. He's style is working, but i'm wondering for how long. Machida's style was also working for a while but now he's dropped two straight.
I have never seen a style which was so strange and so effective at the same time. It looks almost like a monkey style with the head movement.
The way he jumps in the air for a flying knee could be dangerous if timed and countered by his opponent (RE: Fedor vs. Arlovski), but you can't argue with success--and if he takes Faber, the division will be pretty much cleaned out.
Judging by the fights tonight, I am going to like these lighter weight fighters on UFC cards.
Also, he had great head movement but his body is wide open. This is where you take the que from EA mma and spam body shots.
I dont think he is Pound for pound but he is a beast in the 135!
