Vitor Belfort officially confirms he will face Anderson Silva at UFC 127
Posted on October 9, 2010, 09:15 AM by Daniel CassidyFollowing a slight mix up where he announced he would fight Anderson Silva at UFC 126, Vitor Belfort officially confirmed on Inside MMA that he will get his Middleweight title shot at UFC 127, on February 5th. The Brazilain had mistakenly tweeted that he would face Silva a month earlier, but today cleared things up.
Speaking on the show, Belfort told the hosts:
“The fight is definitely going to happen. It’s Feb. 5. It’s going to be the fight in (Las) Vegas for the Super Bowl.”
This fight will add to an already stacked card, which is also expected to play host to:
Forrest Griffin vs Rich Franklin
With a card so stacked, it proves the UFC are serious about making a big bang each Superbowl weekend.
Speaking about his title shot following Chael Sonnen's failed drug test, Belfort added:
“It’s like I’m set. I’m set for one goal. I’m going to go there and get what belongs to me. The only thing I can do is go there and perform my best. I’m not worried if it’s Anderson Silva, or if it’s any other person in front of me. Whatever is in front of me is what’s the most important thing for me right now.”
“Anderson Silva is a great fighter, a great athlete. I’ve known him for a long time, and I know I have all the ability, but now, what I’m doing is doing my part. I’m training and putting my skills together.”

As much as I love silva, I really think that his era is close to being over. He's been getting rocked and knocked down by fighters who are wrestlers and graplers.. vitor will probably knock him out if silva puts out the same recent performances against him.
Only one fighter partially over powered him & he had 2 be roided up 2 do it, so what other WRESTLERS& GRAPPLERS you talking about..........RIGHT
That should be a blast to watch. With as great as the top of the card is, I won't be surprised if Dunham & Florian end up being Fight of the Night.

time for anderson to loose that belt.
This might be the first guy to face AS that won't be shaking before the fight. Vitor has been there and done that and he's still young with a longer fight history against tougher oponents than most. I don't know who I want to win but I will not be surprised if Vitor wins by tko R1 or AS wins every round after that.
If AS dominates this fight It will be a clear message to the world of who's the daddy in MMA right now.
Belfort aint all that. He has excellent finishing ability, but has been dominated by many other fighters when he was in his prime. Silva nut huggers need to wake up and realise GSP, Aldo and Edgar way surpass Silva for skill.

Who at 185 do you think would destroy Vitor right now besides maybe AS? Nate is about the only one I see giving him a good run. You must be of the nuthugging whor*s who are just waiting for some big dangly ones to come and finally beat AS so you can have some too. Jealous?

Theres no way im missing this card. cant wait to see if Vitor can upset Silvia, also really excited to see forrest back in the octagon. i personally think Jon jones vs Ryan bader is going to be fight of the night with Jonny Bones Jones hand raised.
