Victorious Chael Sonnen calls out Anderson Silva: If you win, I'll leave the UFC forever!

After 14 months of absence, People's Champ Chael Sonnen exceeded expectations with a dominant victory over Brian Stann at UFC 136. Sonnen completely dominated Brian Stann, before finishing fight with a somewhat ironic Arm Triangle victory. But the biggest story of this fight was yet to come.
In his post fight interview with Joe Rogan, Chael Sonnen decided to call out the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva, who was in attendance at UFC 136. Sonnen's words speak for themselves:
"Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck! Superbowl weekend, the biggest rematch in the history of the business. I'm calling you out, Silva, but we're upping the stakes. I beat you, you leave the division. You beat me, I will leave the UFC forever!"
Sonnen then dropped the microphone (or gave it back to Joe Rogan, one of the two), before turning his back to Joe Rogan and leaving the Octagon. The camera concentrated on Anderson Silva, who gave his famous "surprised" facial expression.
Chael Sonnen definitely earned his bragging rights with a victory over Brian Stann. It was a complete dominance that somehow reminded Sonnen's triumph over Nate Marquardt at UFC 109. Chael Sonnen is now 26-11-1 in his MMA career, and once again the #1 contender for the UFC Middleweight title.

Noooooooooo, Brian how could you? I will laugh so hard if Silva wins by triangle, he'd be forced to leave the UFC from embarassment.
Chael's turning this whole debacle into a WWE match. I think he was just too hyped up. I half expected him to give a "WOOO" after calling Anderson out. But now there's no doubt about it now, he deserves another shot at Silva.
Maybe you just watched too much WWE. I see it as good promotion for a fight.
Shit, the Silva fanboys should be loving this if they are so confident about Silva tooling Sonnen the 2nd time around.....But they arent...And you know why? They are scared.

Injured Anderson, PEDS.....yup yup. Sonnen wasnt busted for PEDS. He was busted for not disclosing his treatment properly. Its all legit according to the commissions as long as he discloses it. Quit crying about that.
Nobody comes to the octagon 100%, if you are able to get cleared to fight, then you are in fighting form. Silva walked down there on his own accord and guess what, even if he was 100% he would be a little lighter on his feet but he would still get brought down to his ass.
And this time around Sonnen isnt just gonna punch Silva while Silva turtles up. Hes gonna put the hooks in and choke out the p4p champ
Despite Sonnen's WWE histrionics, he out-classed and finished Brian Stann.
An rematch with Anderson Silva will be a very big fight.

What you guys fail to realize is the whole "WWE" comparison is really annoying, considering a promo isn't limited to pro wrestling, and the reason it's popular is because promos are used to promote the event. The difference is, once the talking stops, UFC fighters are in a real fight.
What you fail to realize is that if this was MLB, NBA, or NFL, NHL or NASCAR--if an ahlete in those sports bragged like Sonnen, he would be a laughingstock.
MMA IS a sport--which also happens to be entertaining--not the other way around.
chocolat you're totally right. to the dork below, codemaster whatever, all that crap you posted was about team sports, except nascar, im not even sure why you included that, desperate attempt i guess. mma is about fighting, ONE MAN AGAINST THE REST. you ARE going to get individual, passionate, direct confrontation and i think it's exciting and honest and good for the marketing of the sport. peace.

I think everyone is refering to the whole " if I win you leave the division, if you win ill leave the ufc forever" comment as the WWE type. I haven't heard many comments like that in any other sport even boxing I've heard fighters giving up there winnings to prove that there willing to fight even for free. But that kinda comment is 100% WWE.
Fight sports such as boxing and MMA are at their most successful with charismatic competitors giving entertaining interviews and building up upcoming events. If this was 1974 you would probably be saying how much of a laughing stock Muhammad Ali is.
What an idiot. I think DW might have a few words to say to Sonnen making ultimatums that effect the business. SIlva will probably fight Sonnen again, but he would be a fool to agree to any of Sonnen's childish games.

I think a lot of people just can't sit back and enjoy how entertaining Chael's promo was. It was the best build up for a fight from a post fight interview ever.
I think a lot of people don't realise Sonnen should not be able to hand himself a title fight on superbowl with conditions. He is a fighter, not the president of the UFC though he bloody acts like one.
PS: For me it's a pity, as it distracts from what was a great performance over a rising star of the MW division. He owned Stann and instead of people talking about that we are discussing Sonnens bullshit that comes out every time his mouth opens.
Don't worry. As you learn more about MMA you will be able to concentrate on two things at once. JK ;)

Stylistically I think Chael has a chance against AS but is he a better fighter? I don't think so.
Anton, this fight did not go three rounds as you said in the article. Great job by Sonnen to finish Stann after dominating him so handily, he is certainly back!
