Stann was fighting at LHW against much bigger guys then. Sonnen may still have no problem controlling him though. Just wanted to mention that.

That sucks..I was REALLY looking forward to him facing machida. Outside of anderson, Machida is about the best there is at making fighters look silly.

Munoz VS Stann is a way better match up! they both have earned the right to fight each other in a #1 contender match. and the only fights i want to see Sonnen in right now are Palhares or Mia. Chael has weak submision defence and i want to see someone put that big mouth in his place! and if he beats those two guys than put him back in the tittle picture, but make that f**k earn his way back to contender status.

sonnen has very good underrated boxing, it would not be so crazy to think he could KO stann

It makes perfect sense, he lost against the champion, in a fight that he was winning right up to the triangle choke, he is the second (maybe third) best fighter in the MW division, so i don't really see how this fight doesn't make any sense.

I agree. Stann left LHW after being beaten by wrestlers, and he has gone far in the MW division against strikers, but Sonnen would test him.



If Stann can beat Sonnen, he deserves to fight AS--if he can't beat Sonnen, he doesn't deserve a title shot.

because he lost! thats how it doest make sense... Wether he came close or not, point is he lost and should have to climb up the latter again, a lost is a lost regardless, he should have 2 fights atleast and stann should get that chance to fight silva first imo

Belfort was smashed. Marquardt is gone. Okami will get his chance. Leben had his chance and was defeated by Stann. Wand was demolished by Leben.



If the division was deeper, I would agree with you. Sonnen dominated Silva for over 4 and 1/2 rounds, and came closest to defeating the legend of Anderson Silva. When a fight is that close, a rematch becomes more possible. No one else has given as much trouble to Anderson Silva as Chael Sonnen--love him or hate him--it's the truth.

Also, from a marketing point of view, a Sonnen vs. Silva rematch would garner beaucoup bucks.



Fans want to see that fight--some wanting to see AS get poned, and others to see Sonnen get decapitated by Silva.



Either way--it's a fight people want to see--screw the deserving crap.



Also, Stann needs to urgently work on his wrestling--his stand up is pretty good as proven in recent fights. I believe Stann needs wrestling in his arsenal if he wants to be a complete fighter and a credible challenger and champion.

I'm in the same boat as you Rigo, I like both Stann and Sonnen. But Stann has had trouble with wrestlers before, and I think Sonnen's high pace might be too much for him.

I think Sonnen has more ways to win this fight.

Stann is a guy that you (well me) just love to see win. I'd love to see him win this fight & get a title shot but I'm not sure he's ready to take on A Silva. He may have power in those hands but Silvas striking is so crisp & sharp that I just don't believe Stann has enough to beat him.

Surprised the UFC is letting their poster boy take such a tough fight.

But then again he has already had 2 losses in a row before without getting cut.

I think the ufc realized machida kicking chael's nose sideways 25 seconds into the fight wouldn't do much to help Chael's sellability. But muscling out a three round decision wouldn't be bad for either Stann or Sonnen.



Hence the ufc love of wrestlers. Their lack of finishing let's people up hold the image they weren't really beat and therefor continue there media affairs for the children.
