Brazil will not have to wait another ten plus years for a UFC event. MMAJunkie.com has confirmed that the promotion will return to the South American country on January 14 for UFC 142. The return will come months after a raucous crowd of 14,000 fans at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena welcomed the UFC back after an absence that extended back to 1998.
The Brazilian fans at UFC 134 witnessed impressive victories from many Brazilian fighters, among them Anderson Silva, Mauricio Rua, and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira.
UFC 142 will take place in the same arena that UFC 134 did in August. There had been talk that the UFC would possibly hold their next event in a much larger venue, but those plans did not come to fruition for the January card.
No additional information was forthcoming for UFC 142.

i say Anderson vs who ever has the belt at light heavyweight at the time which will probably be Jones. then Silva can fight gsp and be the first to have 3 belts in three different weight classes
@Ryan22
your an idiot
He won't even have the MW belt after the GOAT (Chael Sonnen) is done with him ;)
I laugh everytime I see that Silva picture
Silva always finds a way to win. You cannot deny that fact. I dislike the guy for a number of reasons, but cannot deny what is staring me right in the face. I will also put it out there that regardless of him running his mouth incessantly, Chael Sonnen is the best fight available out there. The UFC is in the business of making money, and Silva and Sonnen is where the money is. Based on their last fight, I might just get my wish and see Silva lose. I would pay for that. Unlike so many of you, I have opinions on who could or would win fights, but I don't need to be rude, ugly, and dismissive of other's opinions.
I can't help but wonder about Sonnen's safety if Dana wants to make the fight in Brazil.
