Jake Ellenberger extended his winning streak to six, after defeating Diego Sanchez via Unanimous Decision at UFC on Fuel TV 1.

Once again, "The Juggernaut" displayed improved striking skills that gave him the edge against Sanchez. Ellenberger managed to hurt the former UFC Lightweight title challengers with knees and striking combinations, resulting in open cuts on Diego Sanchez's face. Ellenberger was also able to knock down Sanchez on several occasions, but tough-as-nails "Dream" managed to weather the storm.

Sanchez lived up to his reputation by constantly going forward against Ellenberger. He responded with strikes of his own, and was able to bounce back in Round 3. Tired Ellenberger was unable to defend himself as effectively as he did in the first two rounds of the fight, allowing Diego Sanchez to unleash fury with strikes from top position. However, Ellenberger survived the onslaught and finished the fight on top, sending a message to those who doubt his warrior spirit.

In the end, it's a well-deserved Unanimous Decision victory for Jake Ellenberger, who is now easily considered as one of the Top 5 Welterweights on the planet. Ellenberger is now expected to rematch Carlos Condit, who currently holds the Interim UFC Welterweight title. The first encounter between the two ended with a Split Decision victory for Condit, taking place back at UFC Fight Night 19, on September 16, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Sanchez probably would have finished him in the 4th.

Great fight. IMO if Diego picked it up a little bit earlier in the third he coulda forced a stoppage or Submission..

However, great job of weathering the storm by Jake. The winner of Alves vs. Kampman would be a great match up for Ellenberger next. Hopefully, he doesn't wait for the winner of GSP-Condit.

Diego can make a fight with anybody tough. If Koscheck loses to Hendricks I'd like a rematch there, or maybe Mike Pierce since he just fought.
